Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0Paul Verhoeven and Sa\u00efd Ben Sa\u00efd are teaming up to work on Blessed Virgin<\/em>.<\/a> The film is based on the book Immodest Acts: The Life Of A Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy<\/em> and stars Virginie Efira. The movie will be filmed in French and will go by the title Sainte Vierge<\/em>. Filming should begin soon. In other film news, out actor\u00a0Billy Eichner\u00a0will soon be singing \u201cHakuna Matata\u201d<\/a>.\u00a0Eichner will be playing Timon in Disney’s upcoming live<\/a> action version of The Lion King<\/em>. The film is scheduled to be released July 19th<\/sup>, 2019.\u00a0Titus Burgess has also joined the film Departures<\/em>,<\/a> where he will play a flight attendant. The film centers on a teenager with a terminal illness named Syke (Maisie Williams). She meets Calvin (Asa Butterfield) who is a baggage handler at an airport. Together, they work through Skye\u2019s bucket list and Calvin learns to conquer his fears.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0Gaycation<\/em> with Ellen Page and Ian Daniel is releasing a special episode titled Gaycation: United We Stand<\/em><\/a>. The episode takes a look at the LGBTQ community under the Trump administration, and includes\u00a0a look at the Women\u2019s March this past January with interviews from\u00a0LGBTQ Americans. The episode will premiere April 30th<\/sup>\u00a0at 10pm on Viceland. In other TV news, the BBC announced this week a special lineup of programming, “Gay Brittania,” <\/a>which will include several LGBTQ projects to mark the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0Pentatonix has released a video for their cover of “Can\u2019t Help Falling In Love<\/a>” by Elvis Presley. The song is off of their album PTX Vol. IV<\/em>. You can watch the video<\/a> below. In other music news,\u00a0Jake Sheers from the Scissor Sisters has announced he\u2019s going solo<\/a> and will be going on a tour across the Southern U.S.\u00a0The tour has five stops so far and includes dates in Louisville, Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham, and New Orleans. Tickets are available now\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\"\"4) The 62nd annual Drama Desk award nominations<\/a>, honoring theater both on and off Broadway,\u00a0were announced on Thursday. LGBTQ-inclusive nominess include Indecent for Outstanding Play, the revival of\u00a0Falsettos, <\/em>and the revival of Jonathan Larson’s Tick Tick…Boom!\u00a0<\/em>for Best Revival of a Musical, David Hyde pierce for Outstanding Actor in a Play, Gavin Creel in Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical,\u00a0Cynthia Nixon for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play,\u00a0Terrence McNally in Outstanding Book of a Musical, Nathan Lane for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play, and more. The winners will be annouced June 4th at The Town Hall in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0The L.A. Dodgers will be hosting their fifth annual LGBTQ night on June 9th<\/sup> at Dodger Stadium<\/a>. The event will recognize LGBTQ athletes, coaches, and other sports industry professionals. Glee<\/em> star Dot Marie Jones will be singing the national anthem with the Gay Men\u2019s Chorus and the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. Other celebrities expected to attend include Guillermo Diaz and Prop 8 plaintiffs Paul Katami\u00a0and Jeff Zarrillo. Attendees at the event will receive a Dodgers pride t-shirt and be treated to a firework show.\u00a0Tickets to the event are available now and can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n

6) The 33rd Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is <\/a>running on April 27th – May 4th. GLAAD is partnering with the festival to co-present the film Re:Orientations<\/em> on May 2nd at 5:00 p.m. at the CGV Cinemas 3. The film is a follow up to the original 1984\u00a0film\u00a0Orientations<\/em>. Tickets for the festival can be found here<\/a>. 7)\u00a0The webseries All For One<\/em> has launched an Indiegogo campaign for season two<\/a>. The show is a modern, LGBTQ-inclusive adaption of The 3 Musketeers<\/em>, and features a female<\/a>, bisexual<\/a> lead.
