Transgender actress, model and YouTube sensation\u00a0Gigi Gorgeous on Sunday night took home the YouTuber of the Year award from the Shorty Awards, three months after her self-focused documentary was released.<\/p>\n

The Shorty Awards, in their ninth year, recognize engaging and innovative content produced on social media, including Twitter, Tumblr, Vine (RIP) and instagram.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous, whose real name is Gigi Loren Lazzarato,\u00a0came out as a lesbian<\/a> in September<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0boasts almost 2.6 million subscribers on YouTube with videos<\/a> garnering hundreds of thousands of views each. Gorgeous has collaborated with fellow superstar YouTubers Kingsley<\/a>, Joey Graceffa<\/a> and Tyler Oakley<\/a> as well as A-lister Kylie Jenner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous made a name for herself doing makeup tutorials before publicly coming out as transgender in 2013<\/a> in a video<\/a> that currently has nearly 3.7 million views alone.\u00a0Gorgeous\u2019 documentary\u00a0This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous,<\/em>\u00a0released in January on the video<\/a> giant\u2019s YouTube Red platform, explores her gender transition and has been nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Documentary, Tubefilter<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
