It requires <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welcomingschools.org\/pages\/checklist-for-a-welcoming-and-inclusive-school-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\">structural, relational and instructional changes<\/a>, and proactive buy-in from all staff. Fortunately, Welcoming Schools has created this handy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welcomingschools.org\/pages\/checklist-for-a-welcoming-and-inclusive-school-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\">checklist <\/a>to guide elementary schools in improving school climate to ensure that all students and families feel welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welcomingschools.org\/pages\/checklist-for-a-welcoming-and-inclusive-school-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\">first key component<\/a> is <strong>inclusive language<\/strong>. Official school forms and online communications honor all family structures and are accessible to families who speak a language other than English. In the classroom, teachers use the words like \u201ccaring adult(s) at home\u201d instead of \u201cyour mom and dad\u201d and address students as \u201clearners\u201d or \u201cthird graders\u201d instead of \u201c<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">boys<\/a> and <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/?mp_code=akftr\">girls<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diverse books and images <\/strong>are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welcomingschools.org\/pages\/checklist-for-a-welcoming-and-inclusive-school-environment\/\" target=\"_blank\">also vital<\/a> to an inclusive school environment. Posters and bulletin board displays showcase diversity and promote respect for all people. Teachers and support staff always interrupt hurtful name-calling and use such incidents as teachable moments.
