<\/p>\nAfter Attack on Syria, Trump Supporters Question His Commitment to \u2018America First\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n

President Trump\u2019s decision to launch missiles at Syria has garnered support from America\u2019s allies,<\/a> like England, France and Germany. Lawmakers in Washington also largely support<\/a> the move.<\/p>\n Many of Trump\u2019s fans, though \u2014 especially his most prominent and vocal supporters \u2014 are feeling disenchanted.<\/p>\n Trump ran on an isolationist platform, promising to put \u201cAmerica first\u201d and speaking out against US intervention in conflicts around the world.<\/p>\n Now, to some, it seems like he\u2019s moving in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat Trump did was nothing less than a betrayal, a betrayal of his supporters, of his message \u2018America first,\u2019 of his promise to be different, to learn from the mistakes of the past and chart a new course,\u201d alt-right leader Richard Spencer<\/a> told The Atlantic.<\/a> \u201c<\/a>I\u2019ll wait and see, of course, but I\u2019m not sure I can continue to support him. This is not what we voted for.<\/p>\n \u2014 Baked Alaska\u2122 (@bakedalaska) April 7, 2017<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n But off of Twitter, another\u00a0Trump supporter, Lou Mavrakis, says he doesn\u2019t care all that\u00a0much about what the president does in Syria. He cares much more about what Trump does in America.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want to be the \u20189-1-1\u2019 of the world,\u201d Mavrakis says. \u201cI want to worry about my own situation.\u201d<\/p>\n Mavrakis is the mayor of Monessen, a steel town in southwestern Pennsylvania. He voted for Trump because he hoped\u00a0the president would\u00a0reinvigorate his struggling his city. He was counting on Trump to support new infrastructure and bring back jobs.<\/p>\n But so far things have not changed much.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m 75 years old. I\u2019ve been patient, but I don\u2019t have much time to live<\/a>,\u201d says Mavrakis. \u201cI mean how much longer can I live<\/a>?
