Probably not, and that\u2019s a problem because STDs are on the rise in a big way.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchhstp\/newsroom\/2016\/std-surveillance-report-2015-press-release.html\">According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a><\/span>, the nation\u2019s top public health agency, rates of syphilis are the highest they\u2019ve been in 20 years, with the highest rates occurring among <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a>, <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a>, and other <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a> who have <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> with <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a>. Nearly 24,000 cases of primary and secondary syphilis were reported in 2015, up nearly 20 percent from the year before. Nearly 400,000 of cases of gonorrhea and 1.5 million cases of chlamydia were reported in 2015 as well.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>While all STDs can be easily treated or cured with the help of a medical provider, they can still cause serious problems if left ignored. Additionally, the fear of acquiring STDs, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/hrc-issue-brief-hiv-aids-and-the-lgbt-community\">including HIV<\/a>, keeps many LGBTQ people and allies from enjoying an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/safer-sex-guide\">otherwise active and healthy sex life<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Yes, STD rates are on the rise, but it doesn\u2019t have to be this way. Our community has come together to address similar trends in the past, and we can do it again. That\u2019s why HRC is proud to mark National STD Awareness Month with a month-long social and digital media campaign to educate LGBTQ people and allies about the steps we can take to take care of ourselves, our partners, and our community. Joining us in this effort are <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsddc.org\/tags\/building-healthy-online-communities\">Building Healthy Online Communities<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/hornetapp.com\/\">Hornet App<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nastad.org\/\">National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsd.org\/\">National Coalition of STD Directors<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.projectinform.org\/\">Project Inform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Follow<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\"> HRC&#8217;s blog<\/a> throughout the month of April to learn how to do it (i.e., prevent the spread of STDs), however how you choose to do it (e.g., with condoms, PrEP, abstinence). Whether it&#8217;s learning about STDs, talking about STDs, or getting tested and treated for STDs, take pride in doing your part to keep our community healthy.
