More details are emerging in the investigation into married Oklahoma GOP state Senator Ralph Shortey after the lawmaker was found in a Super 8 motel room with an underage male teen<\/a>.<\/p>\n Police yesterday recommended three prostitution-related charges against Shortey and now a police report has emerged, The Oklahoman<\/em> reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n Details about electronic communications between Shortey and the teenager were captured on the teenager\u2019s Kindle tablet that was taken into evidence, police said.<\/p>\n The conversation started with the boy<\/a> asking Shortey, \u201cIs there anything I can help you do some cash?\u201d<\/p>\n Shortey, using the screen name \u201cJamie Tilley,\u201d responded: \u201cHow much you needing?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI need money for spring break,\u201d the boy<\/a> answered.<\/p>\n \u201cTilley\u201d responded, \u201cI don\u2019t really have any legitimate things I need help right now. Would you be interested in \u2018sexual\u2019 stuff?\u201d<\/p>\n Police were told the teenage<\/a> boy<\/a> had a history of drug abuse and \u201csoliciting himself on Craigslist for sexual conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n Police launched the investigation after being called by the boy<\/a>\u2019s father, who had been contacted by his son\u2019s girlfriend<\/a>.<\/p>\n She told police that her boyfriend had said he was \u201cgoing to get paid tonight,\u201d and she feared he might be \u201cinvolved in illegal drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n Police found condoms and lotion in the teen<\/a>\u2019s backpack and said the two had been communicating for about a year.<\/p>\n The charges\u00a0recommended by police include soliciting prostitution of a minor, prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church and transporting for the purpose of prostitution.<\/p>\n The Oklahoma Senate voted 42-0 to pass a resolution to punish Shortey for disorderly behavior.<\/p>\n The Oklahoma Republican Party also released a statement:<\/p>\n \u201cThe Oklahoma Republican Party takes all accusations against elected officials seriously, especially when the welfare of a minor is involved. We have reached out to Senator Shortey for comment and have not heard back from him at this time.
