In a new study<\/a> titled \u201cFrom the Bedroom to the Office,\u201d researchers claim\u00a0having sex<\/a> either before work helps improve a person\u2019s job performance for 24 hours. At the same time, people who bring work home with them\u00a0experience negative affects on their sex<\/a> lives. So put away the cellphone, dear, and come to bed.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

Over 150 couples<\/a>\u00a0(straight, gay<\/a> and bisexual<\/a>) participated in the study, which was conducted by\u00a0the University of Oregon and Oregon State University. Each morning and evening for a two week period, the couples<\/a> would have sex<\/a> then report back on how it\u00a0impacted their daily lives.\n<\/p>\n

Researchers found that\u00a0people who had\u00a0sex<\/a> before work reported more \u201cpositive moods,\u201d which, in turn, resulted in improved workplace\u00a0performance and\u00a0greater job satisfaction.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe make jokes about people having a \u2018spring in their step\u2019 but it turns out this is actually a real thing and we should pay attention to it,\u201d says researcher Keith Leavitt. \u201cMaintaining a healthy relationship that includes a healthy sex<\/a> life will help employees stay happy and engaged in their work, which benefits the employees and the organizations they work for.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Researchers believe the reason people experienced\u00a0an uptick in their workplace performance following morning sexy time may be due to that fact that, during sex<\/a>, oxytocin and other neurochemicals are released in the brain, which can help make people feel more connected to one another.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cSex helps our bodies release a cocktail of hormones and endorphins like dopamine and oxytocin that elevates our mood, helps us relax and feel more loving with our partner,\u201d sexologist Isiah McKimmie says<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cSex also lowers our heart rate, boosts our immune system and can help us sleep better.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
