American Idol runner-up La\u2019Porsha Renae, who caused a stir last year with\u00a0remarks that she disagrees with the \u201chomosexual lifestyle,\u201d now says she \u201cchose to be heterosexual after\u00a0being homosexual for 2 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added Renae: \u201cI chose a belief system that felt TRUE to my spirit. #<\/span>TRUTH<\/span><\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the singer said<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is how I feel about the LGBT community: They are people just like us. They\u2019re not animals as someone [Manny Pacquiao] stated before. They\u2019re people with feelings. Although all of us may not agree with that particular lifestyle for religious reasons, whatever the reason is, you still treat each other with respect. Everybody is a human being. We should be able to coexist with one another.<\/p>\n

\u201c[However] I am one of the people who don\u2019t really agree with that lifestyle. I wasn\u2019t brought up that way. It wasn\u2019t how I was raised. But I do have a lot of friends and a lot of people that I love dearly who are gay<\/a> and homosexual and they\u2019re such sweet, nice people. We should just respect each other\u2019s differences and opinions and move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then backtracked after a firestorm erupted:<\/p>\n
