<\/a><\/p>\nThis week in New Music: Jamiroquai <\/b>goes back to basics on \u201cCloud 9,\u201d Sun Kil Moon<\/strong> is uber-contemplative on a new double album,\u00a0Conor Oberst<\/strong> drops another track from\u00a0Salutations<\/em>,\u00a0Los Angeles Police Department<\/strong>\u00a0(above) lives up to his bedroom pop reputation on new single \u201cPlane 2\u201d and English trio\u00a0Sea Bed<\/strong> go full massive pop on new track \u201cPretender.\u201d<\/p>\n Jamiroquai \u2013 \u201cCloud 9\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Jay Kay is happy enough to retreat back to what he\u2019s known and loved for on the latest track, stating that it is \u201ca song that\u2019s written in the style that I hope people know us for and are familiar with.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAutomaton\u201d \u2013 taken from a forthcoming album of the same name \u2013 was a bit out of character so it\u2019s nice to hear the band doing what they do best.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Sun Kil Moon<\/b> \u00a0\u2013 <\/b>Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood<\/em>, which came out last week, spans 16 tracks and sees Kozelek in contemplative mode as he ruminates on \u201cevents from January to August of 2016 and how [he] processed it all while traveling.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n The album is streaming in full on Kozelek\u2019s website<\/a> and is accompanied by an interview with <\/span>Conor Oberst<\/b><\/a> who coincidentally has just released a video<\/a> for a new version of \u201cTill St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Sun Kil Moon\/Jesu<\/b> collaboration <\/span>30 Seconds to the Decline of Planet Earth<\/span><\/i> follows on June 1st.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Los Angeles Police Department \u2013 \u201cPlane 2\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n His 2014 self-titled debut album was more <\/span>Death Cab For Cutie<\/b> indie pop than bedroom tinkering but was more or less ignored nonetheless which is a great shame as it was one of the better indie releases of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n Just out is \u201cThe Plane 2,\u201d which is taken from his forthcoming second album. The song is far more quirky than anything from the debut album so perhaps Pollie is living up to his nerd pop name.<\/span><\/p>\n Have a listen below.<\/span><\/p>\n Sea Bed \u2013 \u201cPretender\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Sea Bed<\/b> is an electronic pop outfit from Brighton, England vying for just a small part of the <\/span>Sia<\/b> universe.<\/span><\/p>\n Following two promising EPs last year, the band has just released \u201cPretender,\u201d a massive electro pop track that verges at times on dreampop.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the band \u2013 now a trio \u2013 the song is \u201cabout the discovery and the eventual letting go of deceitful relationships, whether that be to a lover or a drug, or the relationship we each have with ourselves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In the best way possible, you could imagine this not doing too well at this year\u2019s Eurovision. <\/span><\/p>\n Excellent in other words.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The post NEW MUSIC: Jamiroquai, Sun Kil Moon, Conor Oberst, Los Angeles Police Department, Sea Bed<\/a> appeared first on Towleroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n
