48% of Millennials say they prefer to have sex<\/a> before the first date, study finds<\/b><\/p>\n

More and more singles are cutting right to the chase by having sex<\/a> first and, if that\u00a0works out, following it up with a date, a new study has found.<\/p>\n

5,500 single men<\/a> and women<\/a> from various different age groups participated in the survey conducted by\u00a0Singles in America<\/a>. Of those 5,500, 34% said\u00a0they prefer to have sex<\/a> before<\/em>\u00a0grabbing dinner or drinks. Millennials\u00a0were the most likely age group to\u00a0report this behavior,\u00a0with 48% saying they\u00a0liked to sample the goods first before committing to an actual date, which requires considerable more time, not to mention money.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Millennials]\u00a0are very career oriented,\u201d Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist\u00a0who helped develop the survey says, \u201cso sex<\/a> before the first date could be a sex<\/a> interview, where they want to know if they want to spend time with this person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sex therapist Kimberly Resnick agrees, saying that\u00a0people, in general, don\u2019t view sex<\/a> as intimately as they once did.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe used to think of sex<\/a> as you crossed the line now you are in an intimate zone,\u201d Anderson says, \u201cbut now sex<\/a> is almost a given and it\u2019s not the intimate part. The intimate part is getting to know someone and going on a date.\u201d<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t go thinking people\u00a0are only interested interested in getting their rocks off. Over 80% of\u00a0respondents said they\u2019re\u00a0looking for\u00a0love, and millennials, in particular, said they\u2019re looking\u00a0to get\u00a0married, with 54% reporting that they hope to\u00a0start a family, and 35% saying they felt pressured to\u00a0tie the knot because that\u2019s what their friends are doing.<\/p>\n
