Hungarian Gay Sex Traffickers Convicted, Could Face 200 Years In Prison<\/b><\/p>\n

Two Hungarian men<\/a> have been found guilty of trafficking three gay<\/a> men<\/a> and <\/span>forcing them into prostitution<\/b><\/a> in Miami and New York.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defense lawyers for Viktor Berki (above) and Gabor Acs \u00a0\u2013 also gay<\/a> men<\/a> from Hungary \u2013 insisted that the victims fabricated the mistreatment as a way to avoid being deported back to Hungary.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Berki and Acs were convicted of human trafficking, conspiracy and racketeering. According to the <\/span>Miami Herald<\/b><\/a>, the case is a first for Florida prosecutors because the victims were gay<\/a> men<\/a> forced to prostitute themselves for months in New York and Miami.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Andras<\/a>Prosecutors had <\/span>already won<\/b><\/a> a conviction against a third man<\/a> involved in the ring. In 2015, Andras Janos Vass was convicted at trial and sentenced to just over 11 years in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n

In closing arguments, prosecutor Brenda Mezick said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese victims were no match for these defendants. They were 20-year-olds who didn\u2019t have enough education, who were desperate for money, who came over here without speaking the language, barely any U.S. money to their name.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHuman trafficking, modern-day slavery, is not tolerated for anyone, and all are protected.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The two men<\/a> will be sentenced at a later date but could face more than 200 years in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n
