HRC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrc-hails-un-for-creating-envoy-position-dedicated-to-worldwide-lgbtq-safet\" target=\"_blank\">has long advocated<\/a> for the creation of this position and we were pleased to participate in the consultation by submitting a question.<\/p>\n<p>In advance of the public consultation, his office put out a wide <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=grq0&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">call<\/a> for attendance and submissions to engage a variety of voices at the table. For those who could not attend in person, there was a <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=grq0&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">live<\/a> feed of the proceedings. Over the two days, the Independent Expert and his staff heard from a range of voices about issues that he should address. He answered dozens of questions from civil society organizations, including representatives from Mexico, Iran, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, Georgia and the Netherlands. \u00a0Professor Muntarbhorn listened respectfully to all the questions and reiterated his commitment to continuing to consult widely, to learn from those he met along the way and to work with all those willing to work with him within his answers. As he said, \u201cI come with the spirit of wanting to help.\u201d He will issue his first report in March.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/how-the-u.n.s-new-lgbtq-expert-will-make-the-world-safer-for-lgbtq-people\" target=\"_blank\">position of Independent Exper<\/a>t was created by the UN Human Rights Council last June, and then survived a succession of efforts to undo it at the UN in New York. A selection committee<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/un-appoints-first-ever-independent-expert-on-sexual-orientation-and-gender\" target=\"_blank\"> appointed Professor Muntarbhorn<\/a> to this unpaid position after a wide public search.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, he delivered the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrc-joins-leading-lgbtq-activists-and-experts-in-bangkok-for-major-lgbtq-wo\" target=\"_blank\">keynote address<\/a> at the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bi<\/a>-annual meeting of the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) in Bangkok. In his speech, he outlined his proposed approach to his mandate. His work, he said, would rest on five pillars &#8211; \u00a0decriminalization of same <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> sexual activity, de-pathologization of LGBTI people, status recognition of gender identity, gender-diverse cultural
