Kelly Rowland thinks straight people should ask their partners about \u2018past gay<\/a> experiences\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n

Singer and actor Kelly Rowland<\/a> believes it is wise to ask potential partners about their \u201cpast gay<\/a> experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowland sat down with a reporter from the New York Post<\/em><\/a> and made the comments while promoting her upcoming Lifetime film \u201cLove by the 10th Date,\u201d which airs at 8 p.m. on Saturday.<\/p>\n

She said she believes \u201cit\u2019s proper to ask in today\u2019s times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowland added that many men<\/a> and women<\/a> don\u2019t find out their partner\u2019s true sexual orientation \u201cuntil they go through their\u2026phone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t tell someone how to feel about dating someone who is bisexual<\/a> or had a past gay<\/a> experience, but it\u2019s proper to ask in today\u2019s times,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rowland, who has been married for three years to her manager, Tim Witherspoon, with whom she has a son, also touched on open relationships, including that of comedian\u00a0Mo\u2019Nique.<\/p>\n

\u201cNone of my girlfriends<\/a> that I know of have open relationships,\u201d she said. \u201cBut Mo\u2019Nique has the biggest smile on her face and seems happy. I just feel like I\u2019m not in any position to judge anybody. We\u2019re in a new time and space where sexuality should be talked about \u2014 whether you want to be with two people or three.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rowland, who also has a new book about to hit shelves, titled Whoa Baby<\/a><\/em>, said the Obamas were a couple<\/a> to emulate.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichelle and Barack [Obama] show you exactly how it should be,\u201d she said. \u201cDo not get duped and manipulated by these dudes who don\u2019t know who the hell they are and have insecurities and then you have to deal with a plate of all of their sh-t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet them know they\u2019re dealing with greatness \u2014 that they\u2019re dealing with a queen,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n

Rowland has expressed her positive feelings toward the LGBTQ community in the past, including in a 2013 interview with \u201cAccess Hollywood\u201d<\/a> at the GLAAD Media Awards, where she performed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love, love, love the gay<\/a>, lesbian<\/a>, bisexual<\/a>, transgender community,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019ve always been wonderful, always been supportive, and always been loyal. I think that\u2019s what feels so great, is that you always feel loved and you always get that love back.\u201d<\/p>\n
