{"id":49351,"date":"2017-01-18T18:10:42","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T23:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/southern-california-agencies-reach-out-to-lgbtq-parents\/"},"modified":"2017-01-18T18:10:42","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T23:10:42","slug":"southern-california-agencies-reach-out-to-lgbtq-parents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/southern-california-agencies-reach-out-to-lgbtq-parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Southern California Agencies Reach Out to LGBTQ Parents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Southern California Agencies Reach Out to LGBTQ Parents<\/b><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/hrc-assets.s3.amazonaws.com\/images\/made\/images\/remote\/http_hrc-assets.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com\/files\/images\/blog\/ACAF-California-Raiseachild-1600x900_640_360.png\"><\/p>\n<p><em>Post submitted by JP Regis, Manager,\u00a0HRC&#8217;s\u00a0Children, Youth &#038; Families Program.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>HRC Foundation works closely with foster care and adoption agencies across the country through<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/acaf\" target=\"_blank\"> All Children \u2013 All Families<\/a> (ACAF), a program aimed at helping these agencies welcome LGBTQ youth and families. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrcfs-all-children-all-families-celebrates-10-years-helping-lgbtq-families\" target=\"_blank\">Through the decade-old ACAF program,<\/a> agencies work to make sure their policies and practices are LGBTQ-inclusive.<\/p>\n<p>Once agencies have truly \u201crolled out the welcome mat\u201d to LGBTQ folks, they often look to increase the number of LGBTQ families coming through their doors through targeted recruitment events.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/raiseachild.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">RaiseAChild<\/a>, a non-profit organization in California, assists agencies in doing just that through its annual \u201cLet Love Define Family\u00ae\u201d tour of free recruitment events. In fact, RaiseAChild works specifically with agencies engaged in ACAF to offer the LGBTQ community the opportunity to learn about building families through foster parenting and adoption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only can more LGBTQ people imagine the possibility of building families through fostering and adoption, but we are also thrilled to see a growing number of non-LGBTQ singles and <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">couples<\/a> attend with these events as well,\u201d said RaiseAChild, Founder and C.E.O, Rich Valenza.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, eight ACAF agencies partnered with RaiseAChild as part of the most recent recruitment tour throughout seven Southern California cities. Agencies included: Extraordinary Families, Five Acres, Kidsave International, Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, Penny Lane Centers, The Village Family Services, Vista Del Mar Child &#038; Family Services, and Walden Family Services. These events turned out the largest crowds of prospective foster and adoptive parents in the event\u2019s five-year history.<\/p>\n<p>In a time when more than 100,000 young people age out of foster care every year without finding a permanent family, no parent should ever be turned away simply for who they love or who they are.
