FBI arrests Noor Salman, Orlando Pulse shooter\u2019s widow, in San Francisco<\/b><\/p>\n

\"Pulse<\/p>\n

The FBI has arrested Noor Salman, the widow of Pulse nightclub\u00a0shooter Omar Mateen.<\/a>\u00a0As you\u2019ll recall, Mateen\u00a0carried out\u00a0what was (for now) the deadliest mass shooting in American history, murdering\u00a049 people at Pulse Nightclub in\u00a0Orlando last year.<\/p>\n

We know little about his motives except that he wanted a lot\u00a0LGBTQ people dead;\u00a0During the attack, he claimed solidarity with ISIS, but the FBI also said there\u2019s no evidence he actually had contact with the\u00a0group.<\/p>\n

The shooting was used by Republicans and Donald Trump to stoke xenophobia towards immigrants \u2014 even though the shooter and Salman were both born and raised in America. (They\u2019re the\u00a0descendants of immigrants, but so is just about every single person in the country.)<\/p>\n

Now the FBI seems to have learned\u00a0something that the rest of us don\u2019t yet know\u00a0because early Monday it\u00a0arrested<\/a>\u00a0Salman at\u00a0her home near San Francisco. She\u2019s been charged with obstructing the investigation and also\u00a0providing material support for the shooting. She\u2019ll face\u00a0a hearing in federal court on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Previously, she claimed that she had no idea what her husband was planning even though she visited Pulse before the shooting with Mateen. According to officials, her story\u2019s been inconsistent; and now apparently they believe they\u2019ve learned enough to charge her with abetting the horrific crime.<\/p>\n

For now, however, the tragedy remains as senseless as ever.<\/a><\/p>\n
