This morning, CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown<\/em> host Cody Alan came out as gay<\/a> in a moving post on his official Facebook page. Alan also appears on radio programs CMT After MidNite and CMT Radio Live. Through these venues, he reaches over 90 million homes and two million listeners per week.\u00a0That’s why this morning\u2019s personal announcement has such a tremendous\u00a0impact in accelerating acceptance of LGBTQ people nationwide, and now some of country’s biggest stars and other celebrities are sharing their support for Alan’s message. Since Americans’ attitudes on LGBTQ people and their lives are not just influenced by what they see and hear, but who they know, GLAAD applauds Cody Alan for sharing his personal coming out\u00a0story in such a public manner.\u00a0GLAAD’s Southern Stories<\/a>\u00a0initiative tells the stories of LGBTQ people and their allies in the South to create a cultural shift towards LGBTQ acceptance and understanding in the region.<\/p>\n
