\nAbout the photograph.<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

The photograph was taken on High Street, roughly near to the High St Arcade,<\/b> entrance, in the background is the Cardiff Castle on Castle Street.<\/p>\n

This is not very long after the start of the parade, which had started moving forwards and is turning into High Street, you can\u2019t see them much, but they are behind the buggy vehicle.<\/p>\n

What the photograph shows is just a few of the various people, both men<\/a> and women<\/a>, who are at the front. They\u2019re police officers, security people, Pride management staff, and so on. They do have women<\/a> somewhere.<\/p>\n

Because there are some guys<\/a> at the front, there\u2019s those two police officers just to the right of the centre, and there\u2019s that guy<\/a> in polo T-shirt with sunglasses on the left side. <\/p>\n

Maybe you\u2019ve watched some Hollywood movies, or some television shows, and if they involve the military, you must\u2019ve heard of \u201cpoint\u201d right?<\/p>\n

Like when the person in change would say something like \u201cYou and you, take the point.\u201d or say \u201cSmith, you\u2019re on point.\u201d or \u201cGuys, take up point.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPoint\u201d is kind of a military jargon meaning the person who is at the front of the group of people on the move, often the one who needs to watch ahead, and warn of dangers ahead.<\/p>\n

So I figure those guys<\/a> are on point, after all, they\u2019re the ones at the front, leading the main parade behind them. Hence, I nickname this shot as \u201cPoint Men\u201d<\/p>\n

I figure to covert the photo, in Adobe Lightroom,<\/b> into black and white, for a more photojournalism feels to it, and used Adobe Photoshop to crop it closer.<\/p>\n

This was my second Pride photography, having done the Bristol Pride the year before, and my fourth photojournalism kind of photography. I was simply being an unpaid freelance photographer, taking the photos in order to build up experience and portfolio.<\/p>\n

That day was a very hot sunny day, the parade was about one mile in length, and for those taking part in the parade, it would take them only about an hour to complete the journey. It took me about two hours, considering I often went back and forth along the parade looking for good shots.<\/p>\n

At the end, I got myself a massive sunburn, but don\u2019t worry, I learnt my lessons, on the next similar photography missions, I use sun cream.<\/p>\n

About the event.<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Pride Cymru was previously called Cardiff Mardi Gras<\/b> when it was formed in September 1999. It held annual festival in Bute Park.<\/b> It became a registered charity in 2010, and starting from 2012, they held a parade through the city centre.<\/p>\n

In 2014, Cardiff Mardi Gras was renamed to Pride Cymru, and had operated under the new name ever since the change of name.<\/p>\n

Pride Cymru is in reality a weekend event, often called Pride Cymru Big Weekend,<\/b> and attracts up to 50,000 people over the three days, with Saturdays having the parade through the city centre.<\/p>\n

The route for the parade is approximately about more or less one mile in length, and would take anyone approximately up to an hour to complete the route.<\/p>\n

Because I was doing photojournalism, trying to find interesting shots, therefore I often sometimes walk back and forth, up and down the parade, so it would take me about a couple<\/a> of hours to do the photo-shoot.<\/p>\n

That day was a very hot and strong sunny day, and I some sunburn.<\/p>\n
