That is the question plaguing Brian Moylan&nbsp;at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/en_uk\/read\/i-cant-get-laid-because-im-not-on-prep1\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Vice.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Last summer, I picked up a gentleman on Fire Island,&rdquo; he writes in a new op-ed titled <em>Not Being on PrEP Is Making It Harder for Me to Get Laid. <\/em>&ldquo;We retired back to his place for a makeout sesh and found ourselves <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">naked<\/a>, with him straddling me, when out of the blue he sat right down on my <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">dick<\/a> without a condom.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When Moylan said he wasn&rsquo;t OK with that, the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">man<\/a> assured him it was&nbsp;fine&nbsp;because he was on PrEP. Moylan, however,&nbsp;felt otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I told my summer lover that I don&rsquo;t have anal <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> without condoms,&rdquo; he writes. &ldquo;If it wasn&rsquo;t going to be bare, he wasn&rsquo;t interested.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.queerty.com\/five-sexy-gay-men-on-hiv-prep-explain-why-they-are-taking-the-pill-20150509\" target=\"_blank\">Five Sexy Gay Men On HIV PrEP Explain Why They Are Taking The Pill<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An estimated&nbsp;80,000 people currently take PrEP, with the number&nbsp;steadily growing since the drug first became available back in 2012. At the same time, Moylan says, condom use among HIV-negative young <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a> appears to be on the decline. He points to a&nbsp;July 2016&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.natap.org\/2016\/HIV\/Trends_in_condom_use_among_men_who_have_sex_with.97772.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a>&nbsp;published by the Centers for Disease Control,&nbsp;which found 28.7 of <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a> reporting having bareback <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> in 2005, compared to 40.5 percent in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Moylan says what happened&nbsp;on&nbsp;Fire Island wasn&rsquo;t the first (and likely won&rsquo;t be the last) time this issue has come up&nbsp;for him.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had several similar experiences over the past <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">couple<\/a> years when talking to <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">guys<\/a> on hookup apps like Grindr or Scruff: I&rsquo;ll be on the verge of an invite to someone&rsquo;s house until they ask me my HIV status. &lsquo;Neg and only play safe,&rsquo; I always reply. It&rsquo;s sometimes met with either stony silence or the abyss of being blocked by them on the app forever.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.queerty.com\/favor-hiv-filters-dating-apps-youre-living-ignorance-blogger-says-20161026\" target=\"_blank\">If You Favor HIV Filters On Dating Apps, You&rsquo;re Living In Ignorance, Blogger Says<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While PrEP may protect a person against HIV, Moylan says his concern has to do with all the other STDs being passed around out&nbsp;there.<\/p>\n<p>A 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchhstp\/newsroom\/2016\/std-surveillance-report-2015-press-release.html\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> released by the DCDC found the&nbsp;total combined cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis had reached their highest level in history, and that <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> and <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">bisexual<\/a> <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">men<\/a> made up the majority of new gonorrhea and syphilis cases.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The bottom line is that there are more ways to define &lsquo;safe&rsquo; than ever before,&rdquo; he concludes, &ldquo;but with some tolerance, respect, and a bit of communication that involves something other than well-placed grunts, we should all be able to get laid while staying both happy and healthy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you think?
