What exactly is a country boy<\/a>?<\/p>\n

According to Urban Dictionary<\/a>, he is “a guy<\/a> born and raised in the country. (Usually the American South.) A true country boy<\/a> has rather short hair, and no piercings. They dress in nice, clean-looking clothes, and only wear ripped jeans to work in.”<\/p>\n

The definition goes on to describe country boys<\/a> as “strong, hard-working, and very masculine. Chances are, he drives a truck. In a relationship, a country boy<\/a> is usually an old-fashioned gentleman.”<\/p>\n

But can they be gay<\/a>?<\/p>\n

A recent Reddit thread titled Gay country boys?<\/a> seeks to answer this question:<\/p>\n

Any of you guys<\/a> ever met a gay<\/a> country boy<\/a>, farm boy<\/a>, or the redneck type? Just wondering. I’m a country boy<\/a> and I personally don’t know anyone that is gay<\/a>. Although I’ve wondered about a few guys<\/a> before.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, it turns out, there are quite a few gay<\/a> country boys<\/a> living our in rural America.<\/p>\n

\"farm-boy-1\"“Red neck farm boy<\/a> here,” one guy<\/a> writes. “Born and raised in the middle of nowhere. So, yup, we exist.”<\/p>\n

“Gay country boy<\/a> checking in from Iowa,” another guy<\/a> says. “Grew up on a hog farm, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, mudding. … I’ll always be a country boy<\/a> at heart.”<\/p>\n

“I spent the first eighteen years of my life living and working on a family ranch in east Texas,” a third guy<\/a> writes. “Got my degree in Agricultural Science, and I’m employed in the livestock industry. I’ve just contentedly resigned myself to the fact that it’s my lot in life to work with cattle.”<\/p>\n

“I live<\/a> in Oklahoma, and three quarters of the Grindr profiles here are for guys<\/a> with pickup trucks looking for someone to go hunting\/fishing\/mudding with,” a fourth one says.<\/p>\n

Then there are those who aren’t country boys<\/a> themselves but who are attracted to them.<\/p>\n

“I always think country gay<\/a> boys<\/a> are hot,” one guy<\/a> writes. “Also, Brokeback Mountain,<\/em> right? That’s very country.”<\/p>\n

\"farm-boy-2\"“My BF is a country boy<\/a>,” another man<\/a> says. “He grew up in the bible belt of Alabama. He moved to Florida 3 years ago. Funnily enough, I met him outside of a 7\/11 where he was causing a ton of trouble with his fellow country boy<\/a> friends.”<\/p>\n

“I’d love to meet some,” a third guy<\/a> writes. “I am exhausted by the one-upping connoisseur ethos I’ve been dealing with in city-gays<\/a>. I draw the line at defending my choice of take-out sushi. I am assuming that country boy<\/a> gays<\/a> have more productive\/meaningful things to do besides instagramming high tea.”<\/p>\n

Of course, there had to be one killjoy who couldn’t help but keep it real:<\/p>\n

“People who have a fascination with cowboys would probably be quickly disabused of that if they had any idea what cattle can smell like, or what you can smell like after spending a full day working with them.”<\/p>\n
