\"\"1) <\/strong>Out filmmaker Gus Van Sant is getting his own career-long exhibition at the Cinematheque Francaise.<\/a> The exhibit, which opened on Wednesday in Paris, focuses on the photography and painting of Van Sant, as well as his filmmaking. The exhibition on the Milk <\/em>director runs through July 31 and will then travel to Italy and Switzerland.<\/p>\n

\"\"2)<\/strong> The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara<\/em> has been adapted into a screenplay by out writer Tony Kushner,<\/a>  with Steven Spielberg directing. Based on the novel of the same name, Kushner’s screenplay will follow the story of a Jewish boy<\/a> in who is forcibly raised as a Christian. The film is scheduled to start production in early 2017 and be released at the end of that year.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Netflix’s Degrassi: Next Class<\/em> is officially returning on July 22<\/a>, when all 10 episodes of the second season will be released at once. It has also been renewed for seasons three and four by Netflix.<\/a> In other TV news, FOX’s Rosewood<\/em> has been renewed for a second season.<\/a> MTV’s Scream<\/em> released the first trailer its second season<\/a> and Freeform is developing an as-yet untitled spinoff of their comedy Young & Hungry<\/em> that will co-star Ashley Tisdale<\/a> reprising her role as Logan Rawlings, a lesbian<\/a> magazine editor.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> Out pop duo Tegan and Sara have released their new track “Boyfriend.”<\/a> Sara Quin talked about the personal nature of the song and how it was based on her own personal experience of a past relationship. “Boyfriend” is the first single of their upcoming album Love You to Death<\/em> which hits stores June 3. 5) <\/strong>Out pop singer Halsey has released a new version of her song “Castle”<\/a> to be featured in the upcoming film The Huntsman: Winter’s War.<\/em> She released a music video<\/a> with the new song, featuring clips from the film as well as the singer herself. Check out the video<\/a> below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> The Shorty Awards, which are given to entertainers who create outstanding social media content, were announced on Monday. <\/a>The eighth annual awards were given out at the Times Center in New York. Among the winners were Troye Sivan in Singer, Hannah Hart for News and Media: Food, and Janet Mock in Tech and Innovation: Activism. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7) <\/a><\/strong>The documentary Calling All Lesbians<\/em> has launched a crowdfunding campaign to cover filming and production costs<\/a>. Calling All Lesbians <\/em>explores the formation of communities of lesbian<\/a> and queer woman<\/a> in six major cities across the west coast. The filmmakers intend to address the general lack of spaces created specifically for queer woman<\/a>, and queer women<\/a> of color in particular, and explore how communities are formed.
