See How This Abandoned Gay Teen Turned His Life Around In One Year<\/b><\/p>\n

\"daniel-pierce-360x233\"In August of last year, two of the world’s worst parents were caught on camera<\/a> physically assaulting their gay<\/a> son, just moments after banishing him from their home over what they believed to be his “chosen” and “ungodly” sexuality.<\/p>\n

Daniel Pierce of Kennesaw, Georgia was 19 years old then, and walked out of his parents’ house for good that night.<\/p>\n

He wasn’t left with much of a choice — in the video<\/a>, he’s told:<\/p>\n

\n

“Since you have chosen that path, we will not support you any longer. You will need to move out and find wherever you can to live<\/a>, and do whatever you want to. I will not let people believe that I condone what you do.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now one year later, local NBC affiliate 11Alive<\/em> caught up with Daniel to see how life has changed, and things are really looking up for him.<\/p>\n

That $95k he raised on GoFundMe certainly tipped the scales in his favor, but Daniel isn’t using the money recklessly. Sure, it’s helped him rent a place on his own and pay for medical bills (including the cost of hearing aids) now that his parents have dropped him from their insurance plan, but he’s also donated thousands to Lost-n-Found Youth<\/a>, a shelter for homeless LGBT children.<\/p>\n

He also began volunteering with the organization after they helped him land on his feet. Now he’s on the board of directors and works in the shelter to help kids who find themselves in a similar position, minus the “going viral” part.<\/p>\n
