Anti-gay<\/a> Ben Carson: Muslim shouldn\u2019t be president because they are homophobic<\/b><\/p>\n

Anti-gay<\/a> Republican Ben Carson has said a Muslim should not be president of the United States because they kill homosexuals.<\/p>\n

In an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday (20 September), the retired neurosurgeon said he ‘absolutely would not agree’ with a Muslim president.<\/p>\n

Democrat and his fellow Republican presidential candidates have criticized his comments but campaign donations have reportedly spiked since the interview.<\/p>\n

Carson took to Facebook on Monday (21 September) night to clarify his comments:<\/p>\n

‘I could never support a candidate for President of the United States that was Muslim and had not renounced the central tenant [sic] of Islam: Sharia Law,’ he wrote.<\/p>\n

‘Under Islamic Law, homosexuals – men<\/a> and women<\/a> alike – must be killed. Women must be subservient. And people following other religions must be killed.<\/p>\n

‘I know that there are many peaceful Muslims who do not adhere to these beliefs. But until these tenants [sic] are fully renounced…I cannot advocate any Muslim candidate for President.’<\/p>\n

Carson is currently second in the polls with 15%.<\/p>\n

According to a June Gallup survey, 38% of Americans said they would not support a Muslim presidential candidate.<\/p>\n
