{"id":23765,"date":"2015-08-05T20:20:09","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/texas-must-recognize-gay-marriage-on-death-certificate-judge-rules\/"},"modified":"2015-08-05T20:20:09","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T00:20:09","slug":"texas-must-recognize-gay-marriage-on-death-certificate-judge-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/texas-must-recognize-gay-marriage-on-death-certificate-judge-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Must Recognize Gay Marriage On Death Certificate, Judge Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Texas Must Recognize Gay Marriage On Death Certificate, Judge Rules<\/b><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>AUSTIN, Texas, Aug 5 (Reuters) &#8211; A U.S. judge on Wednesday ordered Texas officials to recognize on a state death certificate the surviving spouse in a same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> marriage whose husband died earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The case comes as states such as Texas, which had barred same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> marriage, grapple with changes brought by the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in June that made <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> marriage legal in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Texas, where Republican leaders have tried to push back against <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> marriage, had balked at recognizing John Stone-Hoskins as the surviving spouse on the death certificate of James Stone-Hoskins, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia in San Antonio ordered defendants including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, and the state&#8217;s acting health commissioner to appear in his court next week as he considers whether they should be held in contempt.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The two were not immediately available for comment.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>John and James Stone-Hoskins were lawfully married in New Mexico in August 2014 and James died in January 2015.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Texas refused to recognize John as the surviving spouse at the time of the death and he is seeking to have Texas change its ways now that <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> marriage is legal in all states.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>He filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in federal court, which prompted the judge&#8217;s order. It said Texas has refused to fill in the space on the death certificate for surviving spouse.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Republican Governor Greg Abbott, Paxton, a county clerk and the acting health commissioner were named as defendants.
