Gay man<\/a> attacked while on holiday in Sitges<\/b><\/p>\n

A gay<\/a> man<\/a> has been assaulted in an unprovoked attack in Sitges, Spain.<\/p>\n

Mark Small, who works as drag queen Vanity Nightmare in London, was on holiday in Sitges when the attack occurred.<\/p>\n

He told Gay Star News: ‘I was in Sitges; I’d just left the club and was making my way to the station. It was quite busy.<\/p>\n

‘I was nearly at a crossroads. I was just being my generally friendly self when it happened.<\/p>\n

‘I was on holiday so I was generally cheerful. I was saying “hi” to people in a friendly way and people were nice back.<\/p>\n

‘There was no issue until I said “hi” to this guy<\/a>, he looked at me funny then the next moment I’m getting up off the floor covered in blood.’<\/p>\n

The assailant was ‘around 25’, and the attack occurred at 3am. Small said he cannot remember what happened after the attack, but two nearby policemen called for an ambulance.<\/p>\n

In hospital, he discovered he had lost a tooth. ‘I told the doctor [about the attack] and he said he wasn’t even surprised,’ he says.<\/p>\n

Despite some heavy bruising, Small is recovering. ‘I’m ok, and I say to myself: “it could be worse”.<\/p>\n

‘The bruising is coming through more, and my body hurts a little from being pushed to the floor.’<\/p>\n

The police who called for the ambulance did not take details at the time of the attack. Gay Star News have sent a request for comment.<\/p>\n

Sitges is a notable gay<\/a> holiday resort in Spain, which lies close to Barcelona. This year’s Pride had over 45,000 visitors.<\/p>\n
