{"id":15312,"date":"2015-03-03T22:05:09","date_gmt":"2015-03-04T03:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/breaking-alabama-supreme-court-orders-halt-on-same-sex-marriages-statewide\/"},"modified":"2015-03-03T22:05:09","modified_gmt":"2015-03-04T03:05:09","slug":"breaking-alabama-supreme-court-orders-halt-on-same-sex-marriages-statewide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gayfriendschat.com\/socialblog\/breaking-alabama-supreme-court-orders-halt-on-same-sex-marriages-statewide\/","title":{"rendered":"Breaking: Alabama Supreme Court Orders Halt On Same-Sex Marriages Statewide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Breaking: Alabama Supreme Court Orders Halt On Same-Sex Marriages Statewide<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/queerty-prodweb.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp\/docs\/2015\/03\/same-sex-marriage-coming-to-alabama-360x173.png\" alt=\"same-sex-marriage-coming-to-alabama\" width=\"360\" height=\"173\">Just a few weeks after&nbsp;a United States District Court Judge in Mobile ordered a local probate judge to begin issuing same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> marriage licenses, the Alabama Supreme Court has ordered a halt on statewide same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> marriage.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As it has done for approximately two centuries, Alabama law allows for &lsquo;marriage&rsquo; between only one <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">man<\/a> and one <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/?mp_code=akftr\">woman<\/a>,&rdquo; the order said. &ldquo;Alabama probate judges have a ministerial duty not to issue any marriage license contrary to this law. Nothing in the United States Constitution alters or overrides this duty.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The order gives probate judges five days to present arguments on why they should be allowed to issue the licenses.<\/p>\n<p>This only adds to the confusion in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Alabama&rsquo;s chief justice Ray Moore (the same Ray Morore&nbsp;who defied a federal court order to remove a monument to the 10 commandments from the state courthouse) ordered&nbsp;state judges to disobey&nbsp;the ruling of the federal judge. It resulted in some counties following one authority, and some following another.<\/p>\n<p>That situation prompted&nbsp;Elmore County Probate Judge John E. Enslen to ask for clarification from the Alabama Supreme Court, and thus we have this even more confusing decision form the state supreme court.<\/p>\n<p>David Kennedy, one of the lawyers who represented the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">couple<\/a> who initially challenged the same-<a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/www.flirt4free.com\/live\/girls\/couples\/?mp_code=akftr\">sex<\/a> marriage ban, doesn&rsquo;t think the decision will hold up to federal scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t really think that they can do that. I&rsquo;m not surprised, but I&rsquo;m somewhat appalled,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the stay (on the order striking down the <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> marriage ban) would expire on Feb. 9.
