The data shows that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>38% of LGBTQ people of color have had their work hours reduced, compared to 29% of white LGBTQ people, and 24% of the general population<\/li>\n<li>22% of LGBTQ people of color became unemployed, compared to 14% of white LGBTQ people and 13% of the general population<\/li>\n<li>19% of LGBTQ people of color have asked for delays in payments on bills, compared to 14% of white LGBTQ people and 12% of the general population<\/li>\n<li>14% of LGBTQ people of color have asked for delays in rent payment, compared to 8% of white LGBTQ people and 7% of the general population<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrc-and-psb-research-release-data-on-economic-impact-of-covid-19-on-lgbtq\">HRC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>&ldquo;This new data, showing that LGBTQ communities of color are facing the severe economic consequences of this pandemic, is unfortunately not surprising,&rdquo; <\/em>said HRC President Alphonso David (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/alphonsodavid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@AlphonsoDavid<\/a>). <em>&ldquo;We know that multiply marginalized populations are at an increased risk of contracting the virus and suffering its effects &#8212; vulnerable communities are facing higher death rates than the general population across the country. We must acknowledge that these communities, particularly LGBTQ people of color, face systemic biases that are placing them at greater risk. Understanding this data is the first step towards addressing these injustices as we build towards recovery.&rdquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>MORE THAN 100 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS URGE TRUMP ADMIN TO COLLECT SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY DATA ON COVID-19 PATIENCE: <\/strong>HRC has called attention to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrc-president-on-the-disproportionate-impact-of-covid-19-on-marginalized-po\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disproportionate impact<\/a> the virus has had on marginalized communities and has called for more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/blog\/hrc-report-state-and-federal-officials-failing-lgbtq-community-in-data-coll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inclusive data collection<\/a> for years. <a href=\"http:\/\/hrc.im\/COVID19brief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LGBTQ people are more vulnerable to the health risks of the virus.<\/a> They are less likely to have health coverage, are more likely to smoke and have asthma, and have a variety of chronic illnesses.
