1)<\/strong> GLAAD Media Award nominee and critically acclaimed film Portrait of a Lady on Fire <\/em>opens across the country today. Directed by out filmmaker Céline Sciamma, the French film follows a young painter who is told to paint her subject without her knowledge, and a romance develops between the two. 2)<\/strong> Georgian and Swedish film And Then We Danced<\/em> opens in in Los Angeles today, after opening in New York last week. The film, protested in Georgia for its LGBTQ content, has gone on to win awards and open internationally. The film follows Merab, a Georgian dancer whose world is turned upside down by his rival Irakli as the two become closer. Watch the trailer below and click here for tickets.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\"Shirley\"3)<\/strong> Sundance hit Shirley, <\/em>a queer drama about author Shirley Jackson, has been picked up for distribution by Neon<\/a>. The film follows a young couple<\/a> who movies in with Jackson and her husband. In more film news, the first trailer has been released for German comedy Kiss Me Before it Blows Up,<\/em><\/a> which follows two Israeli women<\/a>: one in love with a German woman<\/a>, and the other in love with a Palestinian man<\/a>. \"Dee4) <\/strong>Out director Dee Rees has been set to direct a new film adaptation<\/a> of Broadway opera Porgy and Bess. <\/em>The classic musical follows a beggar who tries to save a woman<\/a> from her violent lover in Charleston, South Carolina. In casting news, out actor Cheyanne Jackson has been cast<\/a> in upcoming horror comedy Werewolves Within<\/em>, based on the game of the same name.<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> The Two Princes<\/em>, a podcast that involves<\/a> a romance between two princes, has been slated to become an animated special for HBO Max. The podcast stars Noah Galvin, Samira Wiley and Cynthia Erivo among others. It is unknown if the cast will return for the special. In more HBO Max news, a trailer has been released for Trigonometry<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>an upcoming dramedy to air on the streamer. The show follows a couple<\/a> who opens their apartment up to a new roommate and the three develop their own relationship.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> GLAAD Media Award nominated comedy Sex Education <\/em>has been renewed<\/a> for a third season, weeks after its successful second season hit Netflix. Fellow nominee Superstore <\/em>has also been renewed<\/a> for a sixth season. In more TV news, out writer and director Nahnatcha Khan has a new series in the work<\/a>s, a dark comedy starring Krysten Ritter following a serial killer. A trailer has been released for the upcoming 12th<\/sup> season of RuPaul’s Drag Race<\/em>, which will premiere February 28 on VH1. Watch the trailer below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7) <\/strong>Out singer Sam Smith has announced their upcoming album To Die For<\/em>, which will be released in May. 8) <\/strong>Drag Race<\/em> star and out transgender performer Peppermint released her new single “What You’re Looking For” today. Listen to the song here. <\/a>Out singer King Princess released a new single and video “Ohio,”<\/a> on Tuesday, a song that she has been performing live<\/a> but was never released. 9)<\/strong> Transmasculine singer Jakk Flynn is also out with a new EP Cancelled<\/em>, as well as a music video<\/a> for his new single “Special.” Listen to Cancelled <\/em>here<\/a> and watch the video<\/a> for “Special” below. Out trans<\/a> pop star Kim Petras released a new single “Reminds Me” on Tuesday. She also announced she would be opening on Camila Cabello’s upcoming tour. 10)<\/strong> Out singer Brandi Carlile announced that she has a song<\/a> “Carried Me With You” on the upcoming soundtrack for the Disney\/Pixar film Onward. <\/em>Out singer and actor Alex Newell<\/a> released a new music video<\/a> for single “Boy, You Can Keep It.” Watch the video<\/a> below. Out singer morgxn released his cover of Judy Garland’s “I’m Just Wild About Harry” for the upcoming Freeform movie There’s Something about Harry<\/em>. The song is out now<\/a>, and the movie will air on Freeform Saturday Night.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
