We\u2019re not crying, you\u2019re crying! Pantene\u2019s ad is giving us all the feels<\/b><\/p>\n

Though we may joke about the trials and tribulations of visiting family during Christmas, let\u2019s take a moment to remember a sad fact for gay<\/a> and trans<\/a> people: in our community, holidays can be especially stressful when visiting family, and perhaps visiting family is not possible at all.<\/p>\n

Pantene partnered with the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles<\/a> (did you know there is a trans<\/a> chorus of Los Angeles?) to create a music video<\/a> that shows how some people struggle to find their smile. It\u2019s a lovely video<\/a>, and there are also interviews with some of the chorus members on Pantene\u2019s YouTube page. Pantene is woke<\/em>. Take a look:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

These choruses are based in the tradition of the San Francisco Gay Men\u2019s Chorus<\/a>, which established its mission statement in 1969 on the night Harvey Milk was murdered: sing in places where we may not be welcome, because music has the power to heal.<\/p>\n

The idea certainly caught on, and now there are gay<\/a> men<\/a>\u2019s choruses all over North America. Perhaps the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men\u2019s Chorus (did you know there\u2019s a Puerto Vallarta gay<\/a> men<\/a>\u2019s chorus?) should show up at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center<\/a> and sing in the lobby, because management at that hotel has not been kind to our kind lately.<\/p>\n
