The NYT reports<\/a>: \u201cAsked to explain why the ads had been rejected, an employee of Hallmark\u2019s parent company said the channel did not accept ads \u2018that are deemed controversial,\u2019 according to an email exchange shared with The New York Times<\/em>. A spokesman for Hallmark said the women<\/a>\u2019s \u201cpublic displays of affection\u201d violated the channel\u2019s policies, but he declined to comment on why a nearly identical ad featuring a bride and groom kissing was not rejected.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201ccontroversial\u201d aspect of the ad was the kissing, according to the Hallmark spokesman.<\/p>\n But that doesn\u2019t apparently apply to heterosexual PDA. The NYT adds<\/a>: \u201cIn one of the two ads that were permitted to continue to air, a bride and groom kiss passionately at the altar.\u201d<\/p>\n Wrote One Million Moms on its website<\/a>: \u201cThe Hallmark Channel has always been known for its family friendly movies. Even its commercials are usually safe for family viewing. But unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. Recently, One Million Moms received concerns about Hallmark airing a commercial from\u00a0Zola.com<\/a>\u00a0in which two lesbians<\/a> are shown kissing at the end of their wedding ceremony. \u2026 Conservative viewers will be disappointed to learn that Hallmark has ideas of moving beyond airing only commercials with LGBT content and is open to producing LGBT movies in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShame on Hallmark for airing commercials with same-sex<\/a> couples<\/a> and even considering movies with LGBT content and lead characters,\u201d they continue. \u201cNow, parents can no longer trust Hallmark because Hallmark is no longer allowing parents\u00a0to be the primary educators when it comes to sex<\/a> and sexual morality.\u201d<\/p>\n OMM told Hallmark in a petition letter on their site: \u201cPlease reconsider airing commercials with same-sex<\/a> couples<\/a>, and please do not add LGBT movies to the Hallmark Channel. Such content goes against Christian and conservative values that are important to your primary audience.
