On\u00a0Watch What\u00a0Happens Live<\/i> this week, Andy Cohen<\/a> revealed to Sex and the City <\/em>alumna Kristin Davis that the two of them were almost co-workers.<\/p>\n

Cohen revealed that he once auditioned for a role in the HBO series, but that he ultimately didn\u2019t get the part.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael Patrick King for some reason was like, \u2018Come in and read for \u2026 \u2018 I think the part that wound up going to Mario Cantone,\u201d Cohen explained. \u201cI think it was the the party planner, which was a huge part.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cantone played gay<\/a> party planner Anthony Marentino in the series, as well as in both films. Marentino was the gay<\/a> best friend of Charlotte York, played by Davis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think the expectation was for it to wind up being such a huge part,\u201d Cohen continued. \u201cMario is so great that they were probably like, \u2018Okay, well we have to.\u2019 But it was I think that party planner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Cohen did land a small speaking role in the final season, playing a shoe salesman at Barney\u2019s. He also made a brief cameo in Season 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was also in a gay<\/a> bar shirtless next to Sarah Jessica in season 4,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Had Cohen landed the role of Anthony Marentino, however, his career would have likely taken a very different trajectory.<\/p>\n
