In an new interview with GQ Hype<\/a>, <\/em>Antoni Porowski opens up about everything from his identity to becoming a \u201csex<\/a> symbol\u201d as he promotes his new cookbook Antoni In The Kitchen.<\/em><\/p>\n

When asked exactly how he identifies\u2013whether he\u2019s queer, fluid, or something else\u2013Porowski hesitates.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really know and I kind of like not knowing,\u201d he says, adding that he has dated men<\/a> for several years, but that he\u2019s been in more actual relationships with women<\/a>, and so he wants to be sensitive to both.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cI feel like if I do refer to myself as gay<\/a>, which would make it easier for people to understand sometimes, I feel like it dishonors women<\/a> that I\u2019ve been in love with.\u201d<\/p>\n

While on the subject of labels, one that has frequently been associated with Porowski is \u201csex<\/a> symbol,\u201d which he says caught him by surprise at first.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not think that I was going to be objectified as a 34-year-old male<\/a>,\u201d he confesses. \u201cThat usually happens for guys<\/a> in their twenties.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he wants people to know that, while he may be easy on the eyes, he\u2019s also very intelligent.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cI used to do this thing where any opportunity I\u2019d remind somebody that I have an educational background,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to university, I\u2019m not an idiot, I read a ton of books. I\u2019ve kind of calmed down on that a little because I think with physical appearance it\u2019s always assumed that you\u2019re a dumb ass<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for those thirsty selfies he\u2019s constantly posting to Instagram, Porowski says he does that as a reminder to himself not to take things so seriously all the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a reminder to enjoy myself in the process, because I take myself really seriously,\u201d he says, adding that the show has taught him to \u201clet my guard down and lean into all the weird shit that I like.\u201d<\/p>\n
