Senator Mitt Romney admitted to tweeting under the secret handle Pierre Delecto.After The Atlantic reported that Romney used a secret Twitter account, an internet sleuth got to work trying to find it.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic reported<\/a>: \u2018He explained that he uses a secret Twitter account\u2014\u201cWhat do they call<\/a> me, a\u00a0lurker<\/em>?\u201d\u2014to keep tabs on the political conversation. \u201cI won\u2019t give you the name of it,\u201d he said, but \u201cI\u2019m following 668 people.\u201d Swiping at his tablet, he recited some of the accounts he follows, including journalists, late-night comedians (\u201cWhat\u2019s his name, the big redhead from Boston?\u201d), and athletes.\u2019 Trump was not among them. \u201cHe tweets\u00a0so much<\/em>,\u201d Romney said, comparing the president to one of his nieces who overshares on Instagram. \u201cI love her, but it\u2019s like,\u00a0Ah, it\u2019s too much<\/em>.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n

Slate\u2019s Ashley Feinberg soon figured it out, identifying Twitter user @qaws9876 aka Pierre Delecto<\/a>: \u201cIn general, the account follows everyone you might expect someone like Mitt Romney to follow. There\u2019s the late Charles Krauthammer, the late John McCain, Larry Kudlow, Rupert Murdoch, Bill Kristol, Matt Schapp, and\u2014who else but\u2014Peggy Noonan. It also follows all the people you would expect someone who is exactly Mitt Romney to follow. There are all of the available Romney children,\u00a0a<\/a>\u00a0number<\/a>\u00a0of<\/a>\u00a0former<\/a>\u00a0Romney<\/a>\u00a0advisers<\/a>\u00a0and<\/a>\u00a0aides<\/a>\u00a0(like<\/a>,\u00a0a<\/a>\u00a0lot<\/a>), and quite a few reporters who\u2019ve directly covered Romney or his various campaigns (like\u00a0Ashley Parker<\/a>,\u00a0Matt Viser<\/a>,\u00a0Phillip Rucker<\/a>,\u00a0Steven Peoples<\/a>, and Coppins himself, all of whom were on the Romney beat in 2012,\u00a0among<\/a>\u00a0others<\/a>). Then, there are the accounts it\u2019s hard to imagine anyone\u00a0but<\/em>\u00a0Mitt Romney following.\u201d<\/p>\n

Romney later confirmed that he had been outed.<\/p>\n
