Stephen Colbert Shreds Trump Administration\u2019s Letter Refusing to Participate in House Impeachment Inquiry: WATCH<\/b><\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert took apart the \u201cofficially bitchy, eight-page letter<\/a>\u201d from the White House refusing to participate in the House impeachment inquiry.<\/p>\n

Said the letter: \u201cGiven that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the executive branch cannot be expected to participate in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quipped Colbert, mocking Trump\u2019s Vietnam draft dodging: \u201cDon\u2019t get him wrong, Trump would like to help with their inquiry into his conversation with Ukraine but tragically he has developed phone<\/em> spurs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Replied Colbert: \u201cWait, wait, wait, wait. You can\u2019t just not participate in your own impeachment. (In judge\u2019s voice) Sir, you are charged with assault and battery. How do you plead? (In Trump voice) \u201cUm\u2026pass? Can I buy a vowel?\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert continued: \u201cThe letter is full of absolutely bonkers arguments\u201d including that the president has been denied the right to cross-examine witnesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe witness is Trump\u2019s incriminating phone transcript, which he released! If he wanted to, he could cross-examine himself. (In Trump voice) Where was I on the night of the phone call<\/a>?\u2019 \u2018I was on the phone!\u2019 \u2018Ah-ha! Well, let me ask you this. If that\u2019s the case, did you get any dirt on Joe Biden?’\u201d<\/p>\n
