X-ray for Madame X!

Madonna has been forced to cancel three dates of her Madame X tour on the recommendation of her doctors.

She took to Instagram yesterday to announce she had to cancel the shows – all in Boston, MA – due to suffering pain she described as “overwhelming.”

The dates were due to take place at the Wang Theatre on November, 30, and December, 1-2.

“Please forgive this unexpected turn of events. Doing my show every night brings me so much joy and to cancel is a kind of punishment for me but the pain I’m in right now is overwhelming and I must rest and follow doctors orders so i can come back stronger and better and continue the Madame ❌ journey with all of you.”

Madonna, 61, has been posting frequent tour updates to her Instagram feed and stories. She has shown herself having ‘ice baths’ several times to ease muscle pain and aid her body’s recovery.

She previously told fans during a San Francisco performance that she had a “torn ligament” and “bad knee.”

Her critically-acclaimed Madame X shows – her eleventh concert tour – find Madonna playing more intimate theatre venues rather than arenas and stadiums. The tour kicked off with a three-week residency at the Howard Gilman Theatre in Brooklyn.

Although she has rescheduled a couple of the shows previously on the tour, the BBC reports that the Boston dates will not be rescheduled. A spokesperson for promoters Live Nation said “tight scheduling through the balance of the year”, meant it would not be possible to re-arrange the dates, offering refunds to all those who had tickets.

The tour is due to re-commence December, 7, with four nights at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, followed by seven dates at The Fillmore Miami Beach in Miami. After a break over the holidays, it moves on to Europe in January.

Get well soon, Madonna!

Singer and rapper Azealia Banks has posted an apology for a rant she posted a few weeks ago against people who use PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis).

On Instagram yesterday, she posted a message that read: “Hey guys, so…. a few weeks ago I went on a rant about Pre exposure prophylaxis meds and I am just doubling back to say I’m sorry.

“It’s not my place. It was extremely insensitive.

“Who cares if I meant well, that wasn’t the way. I’m really really sorry.”

A post shared by Azealia Banks (@azealiabanks) on

In late October, Banks took to her Instagram stories to criticize Frank Ocean for launching an NYC club night called PrEP+.

Related: Azealia Banks slams those taking PrEP and blasts “dumbass” Frank Ocean

Banks slammed the name of the night and voiced criticisms of the medication – which is taken by users to prevent them from acquiring HIV. She questioned the drug’s potential side effects and people allowing others to cum inside them.

“There’s no reason you need to have a fucking pill so you can just fuck whoever you wanna fuck,” she said.

“The boys are still getting HIV. The girls are getting fucking renal failure. They’re getting liver fucking failure, they’re getting anal warts, they’re getting anal cancer, OK? That’s a fucking death trap.”

“And for that dumbass n*gga Frank Ocean to sit up there and fucking promote that to y’all gays like that’s something that y’all need? It’s evil. And he’s probably getting paid.

“Y’all stay off that fucking PrEP.”

She suggested that anyone taking PrEP may have a “sex addiction” and should seek help from a psychiatrist, before imploring people not to allow “everybody” to cum inside them and, “be responsible!”

Related: Frank Ocean kicks off his own queer club night: PrEP+

Banks is known for voicing sometimes controversial opinions… but not so much for issuing apologies.

Her initial comments were criticized by many. Many sexual health advocates say PrEP has proven a valuable tool in the war against HIV transmission, preventing thousands of people from acquiring the virus.

Ocean did not respond directly, although he did issue a statement via Tumblr in answer to some of the feedback he’d received about his club’s name. He stated he was not being sponsored or paid by any drug company.

“I decided to name, what was otherwise going to be a night of lights and music inspired by an era of clubbing that I loved PrEP+ because while designing the club … I started to imagine in an era where so many lives were lost and so much promise was lost forever along with them, what would it have been like if something, anything had existed that in all probability would’ve saved thousands and thousands of lives.”

JOHN BOLTON. Adam Schiff says he should have the “courage” to testify, but isn’t going to take him to court to compel it: “We’ve certainly been in touch with his lawyer and what we’ve been informed by his lawyer because we invited him and he did not choose to come in and testify … is if we subpoena him, they will sue us in court,” Schiff said. “Now, he will have to explain one day if he maintains that position why he wanted to wait to put it in a book instead of telling the American people what he knew when it really mattered to the country.”

GRAHAM KING. Bohemian Rhapsody director is making another biopic, and this one is called perfect for Bryan Singer to direct.

BLATANT LIE. Trump claims that support for impeachment is very low: “Public opinion hasn’t changed much on impeachment despite five days of public hearings, with nearly half of Americans in support of impeaching the president over his actions toward Ukraine — but almost two-thirds say they can’t imagine anything changing their minds on the issue.”

Support for Impeachment is dropping like a rock, down into the 20’s in some Polls. Dems should now get down to work and finally approve USMCA, and much more!

POOR TIMING. Lindsay Graham says White House directed him to block senate resolution formally recognizing Turkey’s genocide of the Armenian people. “I said sure,” Graham said. “The only reason I did it is because he [Erdoğan] was still in town. … That would’ve been poor timing. I’m trying to salvage the relationship if possible.”

SHAWN MENDES. Tiring of the showmance?

TITAN. Saturn’s moon is covered in organic material.

FEEL GOOD STORIES. The new front in Russian disinformation. “Professional trolls are good at their job. They have studied us. They understand how to harness our biases (and hashtags) for their own purposes. They know what pressure points to push and how best to drive us to distrust our neighbors. The professionals know you catch more flies with honey. They don’t go to social media looking for a fight; they go looking for new best friends. And they have found them.”

BOSTON. Amy Klobuchar delivered remarks at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner.

HARRY MORTON. Pink Taco and The Viper Room founder dead at 38.

HARTFORD. Gay Men’s Chorus announces new artistic director.”The Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus (HGMC) has selected Dr. Wendy K. Moy as its new Artistic Director. Vogue Mexico makes history with third-gender cover star

Vogue Mexico makes history with third-gender cover star

A post shared by Vogue México y Latinoamérica (@voguemexico) on

Vogue Mexico has featured a third-gender cover star for the first time. The magazine is believed to be the first in Vogue’s 120-year history to feature a ‘muxe’ (pronounced MOO-she) model.

‘Muxes’ are a Mexican identity for indigenous third-gender individuals. The term is derived from the Spanish word mujer, meaning woman.

Muxes have been regarded as a third gender in Mexican culture for centuries. They are particular to the Zapotec community of southern Mexico.

Related: Tahiti’s ‘third gender’ take center stage in vivid London exhibition

Across the globe, many cultures have recognized those who do not fit into conventional binary definitions of gender. Besides muxes in Mexico, in Tahiti, there are people referred to as ‘Mahu’ (effeminate men) or ‘rae rae’ (transgender). They occupy a similar space to India’s ‘hijras’ (recognized as a third gender in that country) and the ‘fa’afafine’ in Samoan culture.

Vogue Mexico collaborated with British Vogue on its photoshoot (the images will appear in both magazines). Vogue Mexico is running two covers from the shoot on its December edition, and one will feature 37-year-old Zapoteca muxe, Estrella Vazquez.

Vazquez, a designer and weaver, told Reuters that the shoot with Vogue reflects increasing awareness and acceptance of trans and gender non-conforming people in Mexico: “I think it’s a huge step … There’s still discrimination, but it’s not as much now and you don’t see it like you once did.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Vogue México y Latinoamérica (@voguemexico) on

In an Instagram posting, Vogue Mexico stated: “In a world in which labels seem essential, muxes appear as that figure that refuses to be typecast.

“The third gender has an important role in the Zapoteca history and becomes the living proof that ancestral magic still walks on this land.”

Although LGBTQ people continue to face prejudice in many parts of Mexico, advances have been made regarding trans rights in recent years.

Many states now allow trans people to amend the sex on their birth certificate and official documents simply by requesting to do so, rather than having to undergo surgical procedures or obtain a specific diagnosis from a doctor.

The legend that is Celine Dion released “Courage” on Friday. It’s her first English-language album in six years. To mark the occasion, she delighted and surprised some gay fans in New York City.

Just after midnight on Friday morning, she showed up at Lips. It’s a restaurant on the Upper East Side that has regular drag shows.

The venue was hosting a Celine-themed night to tie in with the new album. Fans sung karaoke versions of Dion’s biggest hits – unaware of the evening’s big surprise.

Dion, 51, took the stage and proceeded to sing one of her latest songs. The karaoke screen ensured everyone else could join in.

One lucky man in the audience tweeted his surprise.

“I can’t believe I watched Céline Dion do karaoke of her own song at a gay bar at 12:30 AM last night,” said @dbenderstern. His tweet, which included a clip of Dion, has gone viral and been liked almost a quarter of a million times.

He had to assure some of those commentating that this was indeed Celine Dion, and not drag queen Jeffree Star (who bears a passing resemblance to the Canadian superstar).

“This album has been a long process,” Dion told the packed audience. “I’m sorry it took a while, but thank you so much for all your support through the years and for being here tonight.

“I hope René will like the album, and I hope you like it as well, of course. I put my heart into it. I love you all very much.”

René is her late husband, René Angélil. He passed away in 2016. Dion went on to sing her new track, aptly entitled, “Flying On My Own”.

One of the drag queens present on the stage alongside Dion was Stephanie Stone. She told Today: “As we know in life sometimes there are disappointments. Celine is not one of them. She delivers. So funny, kind and everything you hope for.”

You can watch more of Dion’s appearance below.

Meanwhile, the audience at Lips were not the only ones going gaga for Dion this weekend. Sam Smith has co-written one of the tracks on the new album. They took to Twitter to singer Dion’s praises.

Sense8’s Brian J Smith Comes Out as Gay

Sense8’s Brian J Smith Comes Out as Gay

Actor Brian J. Smith, best known for playing Will Gorski in the Netflix series Sense8, has come out as gay. Smith, who also stars in the USA Network’s Treadstone and BBC One’s World On Fire, grew up in rural Texas and told Attitude magazine, “I could never be who I was. I was constantly having to check myself and make sure I wasn’t looking at someone too long or making someone feel uncomfortable.”

Said Smith: “At school I really couldn’t fit in anywhere. I wasn’t a jock or a nerd. Forget about any LGBTQ union or groups. There was absolutely nothing. I was completely alone. I heard all the names: pussy, faggot. … I had to be very, very careful about telling people the truth about myself. It still reverberates. A lot of my work is about that. The things that move me as an actor are those echoes that come up.”

Smith, 38, says he came out to his family eight years ago: “When I came out to my parents they were wonderful. They said they were just waiting for me to say something. They were a lot more advanced than I gave them credit for. I think that’s when I became OK with it, too. Just in terms of being, ‘Oh that’s the world, it’s not as dangerous as I thought it was’.”

Said Smith on Instagram Thursday: “I knew it was time. Hoping there’s other people out there like me (and not like me!) who can relate. Nothin but love! Now let’s go party.”
