This week a gay Trump supporter made the case (or not?) for Trump, Miley Cyrus gave her followers some horrible advice, Patti LuPone completely trashed Evita and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the WWE hired another beautiful out gay man. Here’s what happened on Instagram:

what a surprise u were ? @Miguel.rojales

A post shared by james alexander diaz mcdermott (@alexandermcdizz) on

Alex Diaz is a 25-year-old Filipino-Scottish actor and model who lives in Manila. Yesterday, he came out as bisexual in an emotional Instagram post after being outed by someone online last week.

It all started last Wednesday when a man claiming to be an “online fitness coach” shared screenshots of a private Instagram exchange between himself and Diaz.

In the conversation, Diaz asked if the man “accepted indecent proposals.” When the man said no, Diaz apologized then asked him not to share the conversation. In an act of cruelty, the man leaked the screenshots anyway and they quickly spread on social media before being published by an online tabloid.

Afterwards, Diaz laid low for a few days. Until yesterday, when he finally broke his silence.

“Thank you for the thousands of messages of love and support all over twitter and my message requests here on Instagram,” he wrote to his 580,000 followers yesterday.

“Never again will I be shackled by the fear of what might be said about who I am for fear of losing my career and instead, I will seek help, heal and champion change, acceptance and representation for the bisexual community and/or anyone who is met with prejudice in our society.”

thank you for the thousands of messages of love and support all over twitter and my message requests here on instagram. I am going to release a full statement when the time is right but for now I would just like to say sorry and thank you. I ask forgiveness from my management, the brands, supporters, friends, my family and everyone else I let down by what I did and/or who I am. Im sorry, I was wrong in my actions and failed to uphold the values I so strongly try to convey online. It was not my intention to hurt anyone or elude the truth of who I am for all these years but rather a showbiz decisions based on the state of our nation in regards to acceptance and representation of who I am. But I sincerely thank everyone for not failing to remind me that I am human and that I too am loved. —Never again will I be shackled by the fear of what might be said about who I am for fear of losing my career and instead, I will seek help, heal and champion change, acceptance and representation for the bisexual community and/or anyone who is met with prejudice in our society. I see now that my actions are not caused by but rather the effect of the unhealthy and toxic suppression of all of who I am as a human being. Im in a better place now. My passion is performing, making people happy & making people smile. My only hope is that I can continue to use this platform to do such in whatever new path this universe-given experience has opened up for me. For now, I will rest, reevaluate and come back stronger and better than ever. I love you all, I have learned and I am growing. thank you. ??????

A post shared by james alexander diaz mcdermott (@alexandermcdizz) on

Diaz continued, “It was not my intention to hurt anyone or elude the truth of who I am for all these years but rather a showbiz decisions based on the state of our nation in regards to acceptance and representation of who I am.”

He concluded, “My passion is performing, making people happy & making people smile. My only hope is that I can continue to use this platform to do such in whatever new path this universe-given experience has opened up for me. For now, I will rest, reevaluate and come back stronger and better than ever. I love you all, I have learned and I am growing.”

While the circumstances leading up to Diaz’s coming out are cruel and unfair, he seems to be making the most of the situation by refusing to live in fear. He is also fortunate in that the Philippines is frequently ranked as one of the most gay-friendly nations in Asia. In 2013, it ranked #10 most gay-friendly in a 2013 global survey of 39 countries.

R&B singer Tank says sucking d*ck doesn’t make a man gay

R&B singer Tank says sucking d*ck doesn’t make a man gay

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Tank (@therealtank) on

R’n’b singer Tank has prompted much comment on social media after his appearance on the podcast Lip Service.

Promoting his new album, Elevation (out Friday), the singer got into a discussion about honesty. Host Angela Lee was talking about men who tell lies: If a man lies twice, does that mean he is a liar?

Tank says no, pointing out he’s done construction work a couple of times in the past but that doesn’t make him a construction worker.

The conversation starts around the 2.10 mark below.

The specific quotes were highlighted on social media.

Is Tank wild or BIG WILD FOR THIS? pic.twitter.com/RJLrRtRlWG

— Kem (@Kembo_Slice) October 22, 2019

Host Angela Yee goes on to say: “Let’s say he sucked a d**k one time… say twice… does that make him gay?”

Tank replied: “No, here’s the thing. Twice is excessive, but let’s dig into it.

“He sucked a dick once and then he’s like, ‘I’m not sure if I liked it or not. Let me try again.’

“And then he says, ‘You know what, it’s not for me, I don’t like the taste!’

“It doesn’t mean he’s gay. It means he sucked d**k twice… because the art of being gay is being gay.”

Related: Gospel/R&B singer Terrence Stone: “I’m a bisexual male”

The comments have prompted some raised eyebrows among his followers.

That’s bs the guy had to initially be attracted to the other guy to even want to try it which makes him gay ??‍♀️ wtf

— Silky T (@lsilkyth) October 23, 2019

However, many others have said Tank’s right to point out that experimenting with one’s sexuality, and physical acts alone, do not decide someone’s orientation. As we all know, many gay and lesbian people have had sexual experiences with people of the opposite sex, but that doesn’t make them heterosexual. Others are bisexual or bi-curious.

It’s called being curious and figuring out who you are. Doesnt make a person gay. If it’s a continued behavior then yes it’s gay but to see if it’s something you thought you liked then no, he’s not big wild for this statement. People just need to stop being childish.

— Queen Q. (@QDub__) October 23, 2019

Tank is best known for his US chart hits “Maybe I Deserve”, “Please Don’t Go”, and “When We”. He married his long-term partner, Zena Foster, in 2018. The couple have two children, and Tank also has three other kids from previous relationships.

He followed up the podcast by posting a video to Instagram last night in which he addressed his comments.

Promoting the podcast, he says, laughing: “I said what I said!

“You all so God-damn homophobic. You got to watch the whole clip, in any event. Homophobia is real, let me tell you. It’s just as real as racism, classism, all of these things, and just as damaging. And it plagues our community the worst.

“This can’t be used as a negative. You can’t use a human being’s existence as a negative. We’re going through enough shit … don’t do that: I get it. You want to call me gay. I don’t have to defend that to you or anybody, you don’t have that power over me, but … but let’s get back to positivity.”

He then gets in another plug for his album: “I don’t care what your sexual orientation is. Get this album. It’s gonna work for you.”

Tank has made headlines before as an LGBTQ ally. In 2017, he performed at a Washington DC Gay Black Pride event. His latest Instagram comments were largely welcomed.

“People gone be so quick to say ya gay and miss what ya actually saying ??‍♂️ the homophobia and double standard bout to jump outta a lot of people too,” said @vincebarries.

Tank (@therealtank) responded: “It’s social media. No one really listens they just find the part that gives them the gas to be evil. That’s what this place represents. It’s entertainment for me and I know how to entertain..lol.”

LISTEN: Cece Peniston accuses Lizzo of ripping off her ’90s hit ‘Finally’

LISTEN: Cece Peniston accuses Lizzo of ripping off her ’90s hit ‘Finally’

Cece Peniston, whose 1992 club hit “Finally” reserves her a place on any gay dance floor in perpetuity, has accused Lizzo of ripping off the song.

Peniston says a portion of “Finally” is too close for comfort to part of Lizzo’s 2019 song “Juice,” and our close analysis (aka playing it 5 times and conducting an office poll) yields polarized results.

Some think the sections are closely related, while others have a reaction that is best expressed by this commenter:

“Did [Peniston] become an astronaut after [she] stopped singing? Cause the reach on this post is astronomical.”

The referenced post comes directly from Peniston’s official Instagram account.

Peniston wrote:

Listen to the two sections below:

This marks the second time this month Lizzo has been on the receiving end of plagiarism accusations.

Producer Justin Raisen recently accused Lizzo of using a line that he, Lizzo, Jeremiah Raisen, songwriter Jesse Saint John, and producer/songwriter Yves Rothman wrote for a demo titled “Healthy” on “Truth Hurts” without properly giving credit.

The line — “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100 percent that bitch” — wound up being something of a calling card for Lizzo, so we can understand why the stakes are so high.

Raisen posted receipts to Instagram:

View this post on Instagram

The Truth about “Truth Hurts” On April 11th, 2017, we wrote a song called “Healthy” w/ Lizzo, Jesse St John, and Yves Rothman at our studio. “I just took a DNA test turns out I’m 100% that bitch” was taken from “Healthy” and used in “Truth Hurts”. We were never contacted about being credited for the use of the parts of “Healthy” (melody, lyrics, and chords) that appear in “Truth Hurts”. After reaching out to Ricky Reed and Lizzo’s team about fixing it, we put the song in dispute in 2017 when it came out. We’ve tried to sort this out quietly for the last two years, only asking for 5% each but were shutdown every time. Coming forward publicly to family, friends, artists, and colleagues seems to be the only way at this point in relieving some of our emotional distress caused by this. The last thing we want to do is throw any negativity toward Lizzo’s momentum and movement as a cultural figure. If we believe in what she’s preaching, believing in ourselves & our own voices is something we thought she’d understand. Shout out to the singer Mina Lioness ( @minalioness ) for tweeting “I just did a DNA test turns out I’m 100% that bitch”. A meme of that came up in our writing session & inspired the lyric and melody we wrote together. If Ricky and Lizzo’s team decide to settle this dispute with us, we would like to share some of the proceeds with Mina for her influence on Healthy. The clip below shows a video & photos from the day we wrote “Healthy” along with the comparisons between the two works. All the Love, Justin & Jeremiah Raisen #lizzo #truthhurts #healthy #billboard

Antoni Porowski says he never set out to become a sex symbol

A post shared by Antoni Porowski (@antoni) on

In an new interview with GQ Hype, Antoni Porowski opens up about everything from his identity to becoming a “sex symbol” as he promotes his new cookbook Antoni In The Kitchen.

When asked exactly how he identifies–whether he’s queer, fluid, or something else–Porowski hesitates.

“I don’t really know and I kind of like not knowing,” he says, adding that he has dated men for several years, but that he’s been in more actual relationships with women, and so he wants to be sensitive to both.

“I feel like if I do refer to myself as gay, which would make it easier for people to understand sometimes, I feel like it dishonors women that I’ve been in love with.”

While on the subject of labels, one that has frequently been associated with Porowski is “sex symbol,” which he says caught him by surprise at first.

“I did not think that I was going to be objectified as a 34-year-old male,” he confesses. “That usually happens for guys in their twenties.”

But he wants people to know that, while he may be easy on the eyes, he’s also very intelligent.

“I used to do this thing where any opportunity I’d remind somebody that I have an educational background,” he says.

“I went to university, I’m not an idiot, I read a ton of books. I’ve kind of calmed down on that a little because I think with physical appearance it’s always assumed that you’re a dumb ass.”

As for those thirsty selfies he’s constantly posting to Instagram, Porowski says he does that as a reminder to himself not to take things so seriously all the time.

“I think it’s a reminder to enjoy myself in the process, because I take myself really seriously,” he says, adding that the show has taught him to “let my guard down and lean into all the weird shit that I like.”

To all the younger kids who come across my profile: It took me a few years to get to this point. I remember being 16/17, hiding in my room where the internet was the only place I found community. It soon became the only place where I found representation. – – – As I grew older I began to see, meet and even become someone I admired. – – – I live as openly as I possibly can because in 2017 (which is actually the year I graduated high school) surveys showed that LGBTQ+ students ages 13-21 in Florida: •experienced verbal harassment (82%) •heard gay used in a negative or derogatory way (96%) •heard homophobic remarks and slurs regularly at school (92%) •regularly heard other students in their school make negative remarks about how someone expressed their gender (87%) •regularly heard school staff make negative remarks about someone’s gender expression (27%) •regularly heard school staff make homophobic remarks (22%) •were sexually harassed (70%) – – – Now while I constantly preach “keep holding out” I don’t want to say that anymore. I don’t want to live in a world where children and teens have to routinely suffer because they’re LGBTQ+ or any type of different until they get to high school or even college before people realize they’re being ignorant and/or hateful. – – – I don’t want to have to say “we need to protect LGBTQ+ kids” and have someone who has the audacity to say “we want to protect all kids”. If you’re not protecting kids who are LGBTQ+, black/brown, who are just “different” because of something they can’t change then you automatically fail to protect all the children you claim to care for. – – – On this Spirit Day, I not only express how happy I am that I survived the trials I’ve faced over the years but that I will continue to use my own narrative to explain why the kids coming up after me need the protections that I didn’t have when I was in their shoes. – – – I hope one day I won’t have to say “please keep going” or “keep holding on” because I’m tired of seeing LGBTQ+ youth be hurt or mistreated for who they are.

Happy #SpiritDay to my fellow LGBT+ people! Bullying isn’t cool, funny or fun. It can seriously damage a person’s lifestyle.

About Spirit Day

Each year, millions go purple for GLAAD’s Spirit Day to support LGBTQ youth in a united stand against bullying. Started in 2010 by high school student Brittany McMillan in response to numerous young LGBTQ lives lost to suicide, Spirit Day now draws the participation of celebrities, schools, faith institutions, national landmarks, corporations, media outlets, sports leagues, and advocates around the world, all joining together to stand against bullying and support LGBTQ youth.

Presenting partners Pantene and Target, official partners Kellogg’s and the NBA and WNBA, and community partners Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Kirkland & Ellis, and Wells Fargo will all participate in the anti-bullying campaign. As anti-LGBTQ policies, hate crimes, and harassment are on the rise, it is now especially important to let all marginalized youth know they are supported.

This year, Spirit Day is on October 17, 2019. Take the Spirit Day pledge to show LGBTQ youth you’ve got their backs at glaad.org/spiritday. Follow @GLAAD on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to keep up to date with #SpiritDay news.

A US heptathlete wore her trademark sneakers with a rainbow strap during her appearance last night at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Qatar has a poor record for LGBTQ rights and same-sex sexual activity is punishable with prison.

It’s just one of the reasons – besides the sweltering hot temperatures – why some advocates and athletes have criticized the decision to allow the event to take place in the Middle East country.

Yesterday, US athlete Erica Bougard, 26, took part in the heptathlon. During the High Jump part of the event, she wore sneakers with a rainbow strap across the top of one shoe. She has been wearing the same strap for most of this year.

Bougard, who has competed for Mississipi State, has been with her girlfriend for the past year.

Following her appearance, Bougard spoke about her decision to wear the shoes with the pride flag.

“I only did it to show everybody love is love, and whether you’re against it or not, I’m still for it,” she told a Swedish reporter. “And then for all the young people out there, if you’re ever frightened, don’t ever feel sad, don’t ever have suicidal thoughts, because it’s normal to me, so it should be to you, so don’t be afraid to come out.”

Asked if she’d had any second thoughts about wearing the pride flag in a country like Qatar, she responded: “I didn’t have second thoughts because I didn’t know it was illegal.

“I pretty much forgot what was on my shoe because I’ve been doing it all year. When I pulled my shoes out, nobody said anything upfront when I got checked, so I just wore my shoes, I just went for it.”

The same reporter told Bougard she was probably the first to make a stand in Doha for gay rights. He pointed out she had been applauded for doing so on social media, prompting an embarrassed Bougard to respond, “I love all the praise, and if somebody hates it, then what can you do, what can you say, it’s social media.

“I can cut my phone off and not see what anyone says about me … but sometimes you have to take a stand and that’s what I did.”

Asked by Associated Press if she had concerns about getting into trouble, she said, “I’m not afraid of the consequences. I feel like I’m well protected,” and if anything were to happen, “I’ll be on the first flight out.”

At the end of day one of the heptathlon, Bougard was in fourth place, with Katarina Johnson-Thompson (Great Britain), Nafi Thiam (Belgium) and Kendell Williams (US) taking first, second and third place.

Bougard continues in the heptathlon today, with the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run.

Good luck, Erica!

Aaron Schock’s Beach Bro Says Former Congressman’s ‘Viewpoint Has Grown and Changed Significantly’

Aaron Schock’s Beach Bro Says Former Congressman’s ‘Viewpoint Has Grown and Changed Significantly’

Instagram “influencer” Jeremy Cormier is speaking out after experiencing “bullying and personal hatred on a level that I would not wish on anyone” for posting an Instagram photo with disgraced former Republican Congressman Aaron Schock.

Said Cormier in a new post: “I realize the post I made the other day has gotten a lot of attention and raised questions about what I stand for. I’d like to address that now. Among other things, it has been assumed that my sole goal in life is to be an Instagram ‘influencer’ and while I have never claimed that, if I were to ever try and influence anyone it would be to do something good. So here’s what I have to say: Aaron Schock and I became friends in 2019. I do not now, nor have I ever shared or supported the views he espoused concerning LGBTQ rights while in Congress. Knowing him, is to know someone who’s viewpoint has grown and changed significantly in the last decade. To affect change open communication among those with differing views is essential. The support our community enjoys can only grow when we reach out to those who don’t share our viewpoint.”

Schock has never apologized for his support of a federal amendment to ban same-sex marriage or his support of the military’s ban on openly gay service members. He has denied he is gay when asked by the press.

Cormier is trying to turn the anger over their friendship into a positive thing, so he invited people to donate to charity.

Added Cormier: “In that vein I invite you to join me in donating to the @victoryfund , I have already donated $500. The organization works to elect openly LGBTQ persons to protect our community and advance equality. Since my post was made I have experienced bullying and personal hatred on a level that I would not wish on anyone. That behavior can never be justified even when it’s directed toward those who don’t support us. I encourage everyone to fight against hatred and bullying wherever it exists. To do that, please join me in donating to the @trevorproject , an organization fighting to provide crisis counseling to LGBTQ youth – many of whom have suffered from bullying. Once again, I have already donated $500 and invite others to donate as well.”

“I’m not perfect,” continued Cormier. “I am a normal, flawed individual and have never claimed otherwise. But what I do know is hate is toxic and it perpetuates – it is good for no one. I recognize this is only a small effort but let’s do something good together.”

Schock’s hypocrisy has been talked about much in recent months, after photographs were taken of him with a group of gay men at the Coachella Music festival, he was spotted talking up various men at a West Hollywood pool, he was photographed putting money in a go-go boy’s briefs, and after a nude, sexual video turned up on Twitter.

You may recall that Schock recently escaped corruption charges including filing false tax returns, mail fraud, wire fraud, submitting false reports to the FEC, false statements, and theft of government funds, defrauding the government of more than $100,000.

An FEC filing from Schock in early June raised speculation that he was planning another run for office, but Schock has denied that is happening.
