Kick off WeHo Pride with a wonderfully queer art show

This is not just another Pride event.

Hosted by renowned modern art gallery Albertz Benda in West Hollywood, “I ❤️ LA” is a group exhibition of contemporary queer art. “It is a gratitude letter, authored to acknowledge the historical, political lineage, and creative influences emerging out of shared kinship,” states and event press release.

The exhibition highlights explorations of sexuality and gender and showcases the diversity, resilience, and talent LGBTQ+ artists. The selected paintings, sculptures, and photographs capture queer life and sexuality in a raw yet delicately beautiful way.

Opening tonight on the eve of WeHo Pride, one of the largest Pride gatherings in the country, this exhibition hopes to provide some much-needed LGBTQ+ visibility during a time when our community continues to fight against erasure and exclusion.

This is the first exhibition of its kind for the Albertz Benda gallery, a rare and shining example of allyship by using its platform to so intentionally center queer artists during Pride.

Une Vision Féerique d’Azur – Capturée par @rospionne lors de la Pride d’Angers, avant la marche, au cœur d’un village de stands bouillonnant, cette photo est une célébration éthérée. @Nolli_drag_queer y est immortalisée comme une fée d’un autre monde, un ange bleu de la fierté. Ses bras grand ouverts déploient une vaste voilure de tulle turquoise scintillant, comme des ailes de papillon lunaire prêtes à s’envoler. La lumière vive du milieu de journée traverse le tissu, révélant ses milliers de paillettes.

Le maquillage est un chef-d’œuvre de créature féerique, mêlant des motifs organiques verts et bleus sur une base blanche, créant une identité unique. Ses cheveux bleu vif, coiffés en chignons d’espace et nattes à bulles, encadrent son visage avec une fantaisie ludique. La tenue, un bustier bleu sarcelle scintillant et une jupe de tulle pailleté, complète la vision. Dans une affirmation puissante de réappropriation du corps, des tatouages et la pilosité sous les aisselles sont visibles, ajoutant une couche de réalité brute et de libération.
