On December 20, I dolled myself up and drove (in chilly air) to the Alliant Energy Center’s Exhibition Hall here in Madison for the winter edition of the Big Gay Market. As the name implies, Big Gay Market (whose website will be in the comments below) is an event in Southern Wisconsin, taking place 3-4 times a year, where LGBT-owned or LGBT-allied small businesses sell their crafts, wares, or services to the LGBT community. And, yes, it’s all in a very LGBT-friendly environment.

In the Exhibition Hall lobby, Big Gay Market set up a holiday-themed photo station where guests can take photos or GIF files of themselves. Yes, I took a couple of photo strips and e-mailed them to myself. In this strip I’m holding to a disco ball and a small Pride flag.

While 2025 has been a rough year (and an especially rough one for me personally), it felt good to have a little fun as Allison in December — and, yeah, also put a big financial dent on my credit card (man, were my arms tired from all the purchases I carried to my car).

I sincerely hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe Christmas Day (or whatever holiday you may be celebrating).

Working Street, Cardiff (Caerdydd), Wales (Cymru), United Kingdom, on Saturday 17th of June 2023.

About the photograph.

While I was walking alongside the parade, I was still looking for any other interesting subjects to try to take photos of, and I noticed this person with that flag on her back.

So I had to walk quickly and lightly jogging, to catch up with her, in order to try to get a better shot.

The flag she is wearing on her back, is the transgender flag which was designed in 1999 by Monica Helms. The design is of five horizontal stripes going in the order of light blue, light pink, white, light pink, and back to light blue.

The symbol seen on the flag is often used to mean gender inclusivity, but can also be used to mean transgender.

About the event.

Pride Cymru was previously called Cardiff Mardi Gras when it was formed in September 1999. It held annual festival in Bute Park. It became a registered charity in 2010, and starting from 2012, they held a parade through the city centre.

In 2014, Cardiff Mardi Gras was renamed to Pride Cymru, and had operated under the new name ever since the change of name.

Pride Cymru is in reality a weekend event, often called Pride Cymru Big Weekend, and attracts up to 50,000 people over the three days, with Saturdays having the parade through the city centre.

The route for the parade is approximately about more or less one mile in length, and would take anyone approximately up to an hour to complete the route.

Because I was doing photojournalism, trying to find interesting shots, therefore I often sometimes walk back and forth, up and down the parade, so it would take me about a couple of hours to do the photo-shoot.

That day was a very hot and strong sunny day, and I some sunburn.

On the morning of 21 June 2025, the 159 237 from HHPI was operating on the DGS 88676 freight train from Neuhof to Sehnde in Haunetal, eastern Hesse. Near Odensachsen, I managed to take a photo of the impressive Euro Dual locomotive from Stadler. The exterior design is intended to highlight the LGBTIQ-friendliness of the HHPI company.
