Part 1 – Play Day Away

The evening was still full of unanswered questions, and that was part of its charm.
I’d taken far longer than usual deciding what to wear, changing my mind at least twice before finally settling on the dress that somehow felt just right for the Summer evening. One last glance in the mirror, handbag over my shoulder, and I paused in the garden for a quick photograph before beginning the drive to London.
The destination was the Mayfair Club, but the real excitement lay in not knowing what the evening might hold. New faces, easy conversation, perhaps a little dancing… or perhaps nothing more than another pleasant night among friends.
The road stretched ahead, carrying with it all the possibilities that only an unwritten evening can possess.
Sometimes the greatest excitement isn’t arriving.
It’s simply setting out.
