Kathy Griffin Deals With The Death Of Joan Rivers: “Respect Must Be Paid To This Woman”
Anderson Cooper has positioned CNN at the forefront of reporting on the untimely (yes, untimely) death of Joan Rivers, offering up two exclusive interviews with power gay Andy Cohen and honorary power gay Kathy Griffin to talk about what made the 81-year-old comedienne legendary.
Speaking with Cooper on Thursday, Cohen said “she was such a life force, and though she was in her 80’s, it’s [her death] is still shocking.” She was “someone you’d thought would be around forever,” he added, and above all else, “she was an uncensored diva.”
Cooper added: “It’s often hard to understand why some people have appeal in the gay community, and I think…beyond her acceptance of people, there was something about the fact that she had overcome all these obstacles…and persevered.”
Cooper also snagged an interview with his bestie Kathy Griffin, who will no doubt be the woman who carries Joan’s legacy forward. In her first interview with the media since Joan’s death, Kathy said “respect must be paid to this woman.”
“She blazed a trail for me and all the girls, and in the face of so much adversity.” Check out her thoughts below:
Beyond that, CNN also produced two wonderful clips over at their YouTube page, chronicling Joan’s Tonight Show legacy and her most memorable moments. Check them out below:

DirecTV’s Sunday Football Ad Features Gay Sports Fan Couple
Now that the Dallas Cowboys have officially signed Michael Sam to their practice squad, it’s time for the NFL to start publicly welcoming its gay fans into the fold.
Shocking, we know. But gay sports fans are apparently not an urban myth.
To help get things started, DirecTV aired an adorable commercial featuring a gay couple caught in the throes of a heated football rivalry. The ad, unannounced before it aired during Thursday night’s NFL Kickoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, has been met with an awesome surge of approval online.
“Chris and I have a friendly rivalry,” Dude 1 says in the ad below. “Giants – Cowboys, you know the deal. Sure, we still argue sometimes. But we’re just like any couple, really.”
Kudos, DirecTV. Your next challenge: Deal with the inevitable haters in an even more creative way.

One late night at the end of her sophomore year of college, Jackie sat in her parked car and made a phone call that would forever change the course of her life. An attractive sorority girl with almond eyes and delicate dimples, she was the product of a charmed Boise, Idaho, upbringing: a father who worked in finance, a privateschool education, a pool in the backyard, all the advantages that an upper-middle-class suburban childhood can provide – along with all the expectations attendant to that privilege.
