The UK Will Ban Any Online Adult Entertainment Involving “Non-Conventional” Acts
It’s looking like UK Internet scavengers will soon be unable to access any website depicting “non-conventional sex acts,” according to The Guardian.
Part of the Digital Economy Bill, a proposal currently going through parliament, will force all internet service providers to block any entertainment that wouldn’t receive certification for commercial sale from the British Board of Film Classification.

Attitiude reports there’s no definitive list of these sex acts, but it will likely include spanking or whipping, urination, vaginal ejaculation, sex in public, and “any form of sexual penetration into an orifice which exceeds the so-called ‘four-finger’ rule.”
In related news, Britons may soon need to provide proof that they’re over the age of eighteen before looking at any online adult entertainment.
Advocates of free speech are branding this a “prurient” invasion into people’s personal lives.

“It should not be the business of government to regulate what kinds of consensual adult sex can be viewed by adults,” said chief executive of Index on Censorship, Jodie Ginsberg,
Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for international porn site operator MindGeek, said:
Many of the sexual activities prohibited from R18 [the BBFC’s most explicit certification] are normalised and accepted aspects of healthy sexuality, and are proudly celebrated by the feminist, queer and ethical porn movements internationally.”
Jeff Sessions Whined About ‘Histrionics’ from Crying Son of Lesbian Mother Facing Deportation – VIDEO
Jeff Sessions, Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, complained about the crying son of a lesbian mother facing deportation during a senate hearing back in 2009.
The hearing was convened to discuss a bill that would have allowed LGBT people to sponsor a partner to stay in the country and avoid deportation since same-sex marriage rights were still at that time severely limited by the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
As we reported, lesbian mom and immigrant Shirley Tan testified at that hearing about being forcibly removed from her house by immigration agents. During her testimony, both Tan and one of her twin sons became clearly emotional. While Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy (VT) consoled the young man, Republican Senator Jeff Sessions had an altogether different reaction to the boy’s tears, as Chris Johnson at The Washington Blade points out.
Session’s reactions was recorded contemporaneously by gay journalist Jamie Kirchick, writing for The New Republic:
Unmoved, however, was Alabama Republican Jeff Sessions, ranking minority member of the Committee and the only Republican to bother to attend the hearing. At the sight of the weeping boy, according to a Senate staffer who was at the hearing, Sessions leaned towards one of his aides and sighed, “Enough with the histrionics.” Sessions’s press secretary did not return a call seeking comment.
LGBT rights activist Melanie Nathan, who helped get the LGBT immigration bill introduced in the Senate, also recalls the hearing:
I sat feet away from Jeff Sessions in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing and witnessed first hand the disturbing machinations of a true blood racist – homophobe – xenophobe. […]
I watched the beady smug face of Jeff Sessions as he jabbed away at the witnesses with his distorted version of same-sex relationships. It was cruel – I watched as the sons of a stellar community member took the blows of those abusive assertions. I heard what he said that ripped at the hearts of those young loving sons.
Nathan also recalls that at that same hearing, Sessions called same-sex marriage rights, “‘special rights – the equivalent of giving these rights to brothers and sisters and roommates.”
Sessions’ reported derision of the emotional display as “histrionics” is consistent with his opposition to same-sex marriage, his support for Donald Trump’s plan to expel millions of undocumented immigrants from the United States, his view that the Justice Department shouldn’t have stopped defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court and his stated belief the U.S. Supreme Court ruling for marriage equality nationwide was “unconstitutional.”
Rachel Tiven, executive director of Lambda Legal, told the Washington Blade she “of course” remembers the incident seven years ago during her tenure as chief of Immigration Equality, which helped facilitate the hearing.

Hillary Clinton’s Lead in the Popular Vote Just Surpassed 2 Million, But Don’t Call the DOJ Demanding an Audit
Hillary Clinton has received more than two million more votes in the election than Donald Trump, a margin not seen for a losing candidate since 1876.
Mrs. Clinton’s lead now exceeds the winning percentages of seven presidents, five of whom also won the Electoral College. And it has given rise to a push from liberal activists to demand audits in three states won narrowly by Mr. Trump: Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
But mainly it is pointing toward a structural disadvantage Democrats have with the Electoral College: Their voters are too concentrated in the bright blue states of the West Coast and Northeast.

A group of prominent computer scientists and election attorneys is lobbying the Clinton campaign to challenge the election results in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania after finding “persuasive evidence” of manipulation and hacking, New York magazine reports:
The group is so far not speaking on the record about their findings and is focused on lobbying the Clinton team in private.
Last Thursday, the activists held a conference call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to make their case, according to a source briefed on the call. The academics presented findings showing that in Wisconsin, Clinton received 7 percent fewer votes in counties that relied on electronic-voting machines compared with counties that used optical scanners and paper ballots. Based on this statistical analysis, Clinton may have been denied as many as 30,000 votes; she lost Wisconsin by 27,000. While it’s important to note the group has not found proof of hacking or manipulation, they are arguing to the campaign that the suspicious pattern merits an independent review — especially in light of the fact that the Obama White House has accused the Russian government of hacking the Democratic National Committee.
According to current tallies, Trump has won 290 Electoral College votes to Clinton’s 232, with Michigan’s 16 votes not apportioned because the race there is still too close to call. It would take overturning the results in both Wisconsin (10 Electoral College votes) and Pennsylvania (20 votes), in addition to winning Michigan’s 16, for Clinton to win the Electoral College.
The deadline to file for a recount in Wisconsin is Friday, Pennsylvania on Monday, and Michigan a week from today.
A post on social media urging voters to call the Department of Justice to audit the results of the election is nonsense, the Washington Post reports:
The Justice Department doesn’t count up calls to determine whether it should launch an investigation. And they will not initiate a national audit — or force particular states to recount their results — based on the volume of outrage they receive from voters.
“The Justice Department does not tally the number of callers to determine whether federal action is warranted,” department spokesman David Jacobs said in a statement. “Investigatory decisions are based solely on the facts and evidence as they relate to the federal statutes the department enforces.”
The post itself showed up on Reddit at least two days ago, though its exact origin is unclear.
