Lookout, 3600 16th Street at Market Street, San Francisco, California. The Lookout is a well-known and popular gay bar in the Castro District. The bar’s had many names over the years – including Caracole (1976-1979), Outlook (1980-1981), Corner Zoo (1981), and the Metro City Bar & Grill (1981-2007). Since 2007 it has been called the Lookout. The name refers to the balcony where patrons can sit and drink and watch pedestrians in the Castro District. In this picture the bar was closed due to the Covid19 pandemic shutdowns of 2020…usually the balcony is packed.
