Kharkiv Pride 2022 was held on September 25, 2022 in the safest place in the city, in the local metro! Despite russian aggression of Ukraine and continuous shellings and bombings, brave Ukrainian people continue fighting the enemy and backing up human and LGBT+ rights.
The number of Pride participants was reduced due to safety reasons. All Pride participants wore national Ukrainian embroidered shirts – Vyshyvanka.
Unfortunately, I was attacked by two opponents after the Pride. After the event, I put off all rainbow symbolics but kept on wearing my Vyshyvanka shirt. I was taking some photos and videos of a big flag of Ukraine when two young men approached me, and started asking (in russian) what I was doing, why, and why I had a rainbow sticker on my phone. I tried to escape but they started beating me. I started shouting for help loudly, and people sitting on the bench ran to us, and the youngsters left the place running. Fortunately, I got no damage and went my way to the next photoshoot I had that day.

LGBT WATER 630
Haus der deutschen Wirtschaft/ Berlin
Waterfilm is a series filmed since 2012 based on the idea of filming with a freehand camera for a period of exactly one minute. This series illustrates the meditative qualities of water in an urban environment. It is my belief that the close observation of this essential element has the ability to influence our perceptions. Each film is intended to be a short meditation – take your time to feel it, but don’t swim away too far…

In August 2022, Kreuzberg’s former Heinrichplatz (originally named for Prince Henry (German: Heinrich) of Prussia) was renamed after the musician, and activist Rio Reiser (*1950–†1996). Reiser was an icon of the protest movements in West Germany in the 1970s and 1980s. He was the singer of the band Ton Steine Scherben, which captured the spirit of the era in their music (See: Rauch-Haus-Song ). After the band broke up, Reiser continued with a solo career. Reiser came out as gay in 1970, and was active in LGBT issues throughout his life.
On August 21, 2022, Rio-Reiser-Platz was formally inaugurated. Rio Reiser’s former bandmates were present and performed at the ceremony. The renaming had been delayed due to lawsuits by local residents. Concerns were raised about the “expense” of the renaming, and also about renaming a Berlin-Kreuzberg square after a male person. Despite the districts expressed goal to close the gender gap where the names of streets and squares are concerned, only approximately 10% of all streets and squares in the district are currently named after women.
