Annual Transgender Koovagam Festival
It is said that Sri Krishna took the female form of Mohini to marry Aravan to fullfill the last wish of Aravan who was to be sacrificed before the Mahabharata war for victory of Pandavas.The thali(mangalsutra) is removed, mourning the death of Aravaan.Thousands of transgender, homosexuals and eunuchs participate in the festival to commerate the marriage of Iravan and his sacrifice.The small hamlet of Koovagam is present in the Vizhuppuram district of Tamil Nadu, making it virtually just another point on the map. However, once a year this tiny village turns into the biggest camp for transgenders from all over the country. They gather in flocks to take part in the rituals of a festival which lasts for 18 days, culminating on Chithira Pournami (April-May). A festival which has its traditions rooted in the very depths of the Mahabharatha war, Krishna’s cunningness and the noble nature of a very valiant young man.

Chaque annee la Pride attire des dizaines de milliers de visiteurs vers la capitale et colore Bruxelles aux couleurs de l’arc-en-ciel. Il y a aussi le PrideVillage et le PridePodium autour de la Bourse.
Pride.be n’est pas seulement la plus grande fete de Bruxelles, mais c’est aussi un evenement avec un message politique. Avec cette manifestation, nous essayons d’obtenir plus d’egalite de droits pour tout le monde et surtout pour la communaute lesbigaytrans.
Cette annee, le Belgian PrideFestival debutera le 4 mai avec la traditionnelle MiniPride.
Apres une reception a l’Hotel de Ville (autour du theme ‘Asile et Migration’), le cortege aux couleurs de l’arc-en-ciel se rendra sur la Grand-Place. Il se deplacera ensuite jusqu’au Manneken-Pis, accompagne par la Fanfare du Meyboom. Sur place, le petit bonhomme sera habille du costume de la Pride (confectionne par Jean-Paul Gaultier) et les invites se verront offrir une delicieuse Kriek. La MiniPride se terminera a la Rainbowhouse de Bruxelles.

On May 5, 2017 we had the 20th Anniversary Tour of RENT and the State Theatre LGBT Committee hosted a pre- and post-show Pride Party Event where we were also joined by the cast.
