My partner Casey, having arrived in New York City just a few hours earlier, fights the jet lag by taking in the scenery from the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in the New York Harbor.
This was a romantic getaway and Casey’s first trip to New York City, as well as the farthest she ever traveled from her home turf of Southern California and Southern Nevada. However, due to her chronic pain and painkiller addiction, this would be her last New York visit as well, and she would pass away two years later. Even during this trip, she was having trouble with painkiller cravings, subway stairs, and myriads of other challenges of being in New York City.
I will miss my beloved Casey as long as I live. In the meantime if I ever date again, I will need a partner who is a good traveler!
