Donald Trump Fired by NBC: VIDEO

The tables have been turned on The Donald and this time he’s the one hearing, “you’re fired.”
The reality TV star, real estate investor and Republican Presidential hopeful was let go by NBC over comments he made at his campaign announcement earlier this month in which he referred to Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and “murderers.” Trump’s incendiary remarks did not sit well with NBC, which had broadcast the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, both of which Trump owns.
Trump previously stated he would no longer appear on his reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice, because of his presidential bid.
NBC released a statement about ending its business relationship with Trump:
At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump. To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC . In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC.
Last week, Univision said it would not longer air Mr. Trump’s pageants following his remarks and a Change.org petition urging NBC to end its relationship with him garnered more than 200,000 signatures, adding to pressure on the network to dispatch him.
At a press conference in Chicago, Mr. Trump stood by his comments and said that NBC had been unhappy with him since he decided to run for president and step away from his show.
“I told NBC I could not change my stance,” Mr. Trump said. “The fact is that my stance on immigration is correct.”

5 Myths About Feminism That Make It Seem Scarier Than It Is
“Why is it so scary to call yourself a feminist?”
That’s the question Melissa Fabello, managing editor of Everyday Feminism, asks in a new video from Moral Courage TV. While the feminist label has been embraced by mainstream culture in recent years, many people still struggle with feminism and the negative assumptions that so often come with it.
Now an editor of a feminist news outlet, Fabello explains that it took her a really long time to call herself a feminist. “There are so many myths around what feminism is that it makes people really shy away from it,” she says in the video above.
These myths about feminism are often rooted in fear, Fabello points out. She says that people are often afraid that the feminist label will somehow misrepresent their sexual orientation or people will start seeing them as “too serious.”
As Fabello points out, these myths are just that — myths. “For me, calling myself a feminist is a really great way to keep myself accountable to make sure that my actions always match my values,” she says.
Every person has the right to identify as a feminist or to not identify as a feminist — it’s an individual choice. As for Fabello though, she’ll wear the feminist identity proudly (and so will we!):

Arkansas Man Freaks Out At NBC Rainbow Logo, But The Joke Is On Him
When Don Stair of Arkansas switched on his television set last week, he was livid to see that NBC had changed the colors of its logo to depict a pride rainbow. Or so he thought. So he did what any sane, rational person does and took to Facebook to express his anger.
Stair posted the following comment on KARK 4 News’ Facebook wall:
What Mr. Stair didn’t seem to realize was that NBC’s rainbow peacock logo has been the same since 1986.
Thankfully, the network filled him in on this detail:
That seemed to quell his outrage.
Stair’s comment has since been removed. KARK 4 News says it didn’t delete it, which means he must have realized his mistake and deleted it himself.
As they say down in Arkansas: Bless his heart.

John Oliver Mocks CNN Over ISIS Flag Flub at London Gay Pride: WATCH

On Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver ribbed CNN for confusing a flag spotted at London Pride depicting sex toys with an ISIS flag.
CNN’s reporter Lucy Pawle made the report that broadcast on CNN. She said, “If you look at the flag closely, it’s clearly not Arabic. In fact, it looks like it could be gobbledegook. But it’s very distinctively the ISIS flag.”
Oliver couldn’t resist savoring the hilarious gaffe:
For more than seven spectacular minutes CNN had [the flag] on screen, even calling one of the terrorism experts to figure out why ISIS might be marching with the gay community through London. Which did seem surprising. It’s a full day later now and they still have not addressed that mistake on air. Probably because it would be just too embarrassing to have a professional journalist say, ‘I’m sorry, despite working at CNN, it seems I don’t know what a dildo looks like. I don’t know.’

John Oliver Shows Just How Far The Transgender Community Still Has Left To Go
The media and country as a whole still can’t seem to grasp the very graspable concept of transgender.
While we’ve made great strides in the transgender rights movement, there is still a lot of work left to do, as John Oliver showed on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight.”
At the moment, the community is dealing with ignorance on a few fronts; from talk show hosts asking incredibly personal questions to their transgender guests — questions they’d never ask a non-transgender person — to two transgender individuals who identified as women being asked at the DMV to remove their jewelry, makeup and wigs before they could be photographed.
“For the record,” Oliver points out, “you get to pick virtually everything else on your driver’s license. They ASK you your weight, they don’t weigh you like a prize hog.”
“Plus,” he adds, “the whole idea of a driver’s license photo is to present how you look from day to day.”
Most people may not realize just how many transgender individuals live in the United States. One study estimated that there are about 700,000 people in the country who identify as transgender, roughly the population of Boston.
And while the community is gaining wider acceptance, some of that seems to be more lip service than actual legislated rights.
Take, for instance, Kentucky transgender teen Henry Brousseau. Henry identifies as male but was forced to use the women’s restroom at his high school, which resulted in his being bullied. Brousseau spoke to the Kentucky Senate Education Committee asking that they not pass a bill which would discriminate against transgender students.
Some of the state senators praised the Brousseau for his “courage,” then voted to uphold the bill that would discriminate against him.
Which is worse, actively opposing the recognition of the transgender community, or telling a transgender person to their face how great they are for being themselves and THEN actively opposing the recognition of the transgender community?
Both seem rather shitty.
