Miley Cyrus: ‘I’m Pansexual’
After months of hinting at her hetero-flexibility, Miley Cyrus is finally putting a label on her sexuality.
“I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual,” said Cyrus in an interview with Elle UK. “But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.”
Last month, Cyrus was linked with Victoria’s Secret Angel Stella Maxwell.
In a June interview with Paper magazine, Cyrus revealed that she first came out to her mother when she was 14:
“I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys,” she says. “And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn’t want me to be judged and she didn’t want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has.”

Miley Cyrus Comes Out As Pansexual
Labels have not always been Miley Cyrus’ thing, but the singer reveals she identifies as pansexual in the latest issue of Elle UK.
“I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual,” she tells the fashion magazine. “But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.”
Last month, Cyrus opened up about the fluidity of her sexuality, saying she told her mom about feeling same-sex attractions when she was 14 years old.
“I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age,” she told Paper magazine. “Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”
She has most recently been linked to Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell.

South Dakota high school sports policy stays trans-inclusive
South Dakota’s governing body for high school sports has decided to largely maintain its trans-inclusive policy on student athletes.
On Thursday (27 August), the South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) gave preliminary approval to some revision of its 2014 policy allowing trans student athletes to request playing for the team matching their gender identity.
Their decisions increase the likelihood of conservative legislators trying to push for a birth certificate requirement.
The SDHSAA’s policy revisions include establishing an independent hearing officer, instead of a hearing committee, to evaluate applications; such an officer must be a licensed attorney and member of the State Bar of South Dakota.
Under the revised policy, a student and parent need to notify the school of their wish to play on the team matching their gender identity; the school would then help them gather necessary documentation, to be submitted to the association for review.
‘I do hope that this helps (lawmakers) understand that we are listening to them and their concerns,’ Linda Whitney, a member of SDHSAA’s board of directors, told Associated Press.
Earlier this week, state lawmakers expressed their preference for a policy requiring athletes to play for the team matching the gender on their birth certificate; according to the Sun Herald, the drafted policy could go to the Legislature in the upcoming season.
As part of such a policy, Republican Roger Hunt also proposed visual exams of trans students’ genitals, in combination with checking their original birth certificate, before they can compete.
So far, no student athlete has made a request under the existing policy.

Ann Coulter has said that Donald Trump’s presidential run is a sign that “God hasn’t given up on America.”
Coulter, who once joked that parents should disown their gay children, made the comments while introducing Trump at his rally in Dubuque Iowa on Tuesday.
Like a schoolgirl with a crush, Coulter extolled Trump’s plan to deport all illegal immigrants as “the greatest political document since the Magna Carta.”

Sue Perkins threatens to kiss Cultural Secretary into ‘horrific submission’ over BBC cuts
Sue Perkins has threatened to kiss John Whittingdale, the UK’s Culture Secretary, into submission to save the BBC from budget cuts.
The gay Great British Bake-Off presenter and the Conservative MP had a debate during a dinner at the Edinburgh International Television Festival this week, according to the Guardian.
‘I’m a passionate person, there’s a lot going on underneath my carousel of blazers, a cauldron of sensitivity and emotion,’ Perkins, who attended the dinner with her partner Anna Richardson, told the Guardian.
‘I went to this dinner and John was opposite and I took my opportunity, albeit after one or two glasses of wine, to engage with him about the Government and the BBC.’
She described the debate as a ‘well-intentioned but pretty fiery exchange’, lasting until the other guests had cleared their plates and the sparring pair had ‘bored the living daylights out of everyone else at the table’.
‘I said you will take my points on board,’ Perkins continued.
‘Otherwise I will kiss you into an horrific submission and with that he shut up sharpish.’
Whittingdale later called Perkins ‘a feisty lady’, saying he enjoyed talking to her and hoped there would be the opportunity to continue the discussion.
The BBC is facing a 20% funding cut, following the decision that the broadcaster has to pay the license fees for over 75s, and a review in light of the renewal of its royal charter.

Should Sex Work Still Be Considered A Crime?
Things only seem to be getting worse for the folks over RentBoy. On Tuesday, the company’s headquarters were raided by Homeland Security and the NYPD, who arrested CEO Jeffrey Hurant and six others for allegedly running an “internet brothel.”

Tuesday morning’s sting operation came just days after an announcement by several major LGBT rights advocacy organizations–Transgender Law Center, Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), Lambda Legal, National Center for Lesbian Rights, and National Center for Transgender Equality–would be joining Amnesty International in calling for decriminalization of sex work.
With the website officially shut down, it remains to be seen what will to happen to the men who relied on RentBoy as a way of making a living–or paying their way through school.
All this begs the question: Isn’t sex work the classic victimless crime? Should sex work still be considered a crime? Sound off in the comments below…
