'Orange Is The New Black' Releases Season 3 Clip As Show Gets Renewed For Fourth Season
Wednesday brings “Orange Is the New Black” fans some good news, and some much-debated news. Netflix renewed the comedy-drama for a fourth season, but also released a new clip from the upcoming third season about a character’s fate.

The Season 2 finale of the show left fans with a major cliffhanger: is Vee alive or dead? The conniving inmate was hit by a speeding van in the final moments of the episode, leaving many to think she’s gone for good. (But then again, Netflix’s “House of Cards” teased a character’s fate as well, so maybe she will return?) Some fans are also convinced they saw Vee in the background of the Season 3 trailer.

To make matters more uncertain, a new clip from Season 3 shows Poussey and Crazy Eyes getting into a cafeteria argument when Poussey claims Vee was “smooshed like a bug on a windshield.” Crazy Eyes is super adamant that Vee is coming back for her, though. Sadly there’s no pie throwing, but at least we have a fourth season to look forward to for that.

Russian LGBT Support Group Attacked with Toxic Gas; Injuries Reported

Two people have been injured following a toxic gas attack on the offices of LGBT organization Maximum in Murmansk, Russia.

Violetta GrudinaAccording to QueerRussia, activist Violetta Grudina (right) was injured in the April 13th attack.

Although police were called to the scene, they did not carry out an investigation at the time.

Grudina said that she was asked to come to the police station the following day and that an investigation may now be underway.

Police have also indicated that a witness noticed some suspicious activity in the area prior to the attack but did not take any action on the report at the time.

Guam Attorney General Orders Territory to Process Gay Marriage Licenses But Agencies Resist

In a press conference earlier today, Guam’s Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson ordered officials to process same-sex marriage applications beginning immediately. Barrett-Anderson sent a legal memorandum to Public Health’s acting Director Leo Casil. Barrett-Anderson’s memo:

“The Department is advised to treat all same gender marriage applicants with dignity and equality under the Constitution of our nation, and the ruling of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals…While the (Public Health) Department was acting in accordance with Guam law, the Ninth Circuit’s recent decision has rendered Guam’s marriage statute legally unenforceable until such time that the Supreme Court of the United States alters the holding of the Ninth Circuit of Appeals.”

Guam couple Loretta M. Pangelinan and Kathleen M. Aguero (below) applied for a marriage license earlier this week and were denied. They then filed a lawsuit in federal court.

Barrett-Anderson had released a statement earlier this week saying she is “deferring answering further questions on the issue of gay marriage until a later time.”

Casil, who heads the agency which issues marriage licenses, responded, saying it will make a decision by Friday: “From my side, I just received a letter. It’s not a legal opinion. It’s a letter urging to issue the marriage licenses from the attorney general.”

The department is looking to the governor’s office for their decision, because the governor is listed as a defendant in the federal lawsuit filed Monday, Casil said.

Gov. Eddie Calvo and Lt. Gov. Ray Tenorio issued a statement on the gay marriage issue. Although they respect the opinion of Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson that Guam should allow same-sex marriage immediately, the administration is deferring a decision, according to the statement.

“If it is the will of the people of Guam to make same-sex marriage legal on Guam, then the Guam Legislature, the people of Guam’s representatives, can take action to change the law, or a referendum can be held giving the people of Guam a direct voice in this issue,” the statement read in part.

Guam Becomes 1st U.S. Territory To Allow Gay Marriage

HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — Guam is becoming the first U.S. territory to allow gay marriage after Guam’s attorney general directed officials to immediately begin processing same-sex-marriage applications.

Attorney General Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson issued her order to the territory’s Department of Public Health and Social Services on Wednesday.

Her instructions come two days after a lesbian couple filed a legal challenge to the territory’s marriage laws after they were barred from submitting an application for a license to wed.

Barrett-Anderson cited a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decision as the basis for her directive. The appeals court in October found state bans on gay marriage were unconstitutional.

Barrett-Anderson says the department should treat “all same gender marriage applicants with dignity and equality under the Constitution.”
