Of course, this is hardly the first time 50 Cent, who himself has been the subject of gay rumors, has made disparaging remarks about LGBTQ people.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Underrated Magic of Just Letting Things Go

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff: The Underrated Magic of Just Letting Things Go

Pet peeves. Mood swings. Bad days. We all have them, especially in relationships, and sometimes it’s just too easy to let something seemingly meaningless turn into the.biggest.deal. Overreacting happens to the best of us, myself included. Just last week I accused my boyfriend of purposely sabotaging my well being just because he forgot to pick […]

EXCLUSIVE — JONATHAN CAPEHART (@CapehartJ) INTERVIEWS HRC PRESIDENT CHAD GRIFFIN: “I have never seen in my career the kind of grassroots energy and activism like we see today,” Griffin (@ChadHGriffin) said. “I really do believe if you fast forward two years, four years, five years, we will look back at this moment and see it as one of the great awakenings of our democracy. Marginalized communities all across this country are turning out in massive numbers for a host of reasons, but at the forefront of that is who Donald Trump is, and what Donald Trump is doing to our communities… I have never seen more coordination and more collaboration across social justice movements to stand up to fight back and to turn resistance.. I find that word a bit too passive. But really turning the corner from resistance to action.” More from The Washington Post.

HRC PRESIDENT CHAD GRIFFIN — BRETT KAVANAUGH “HAND PICKED” BY ANTI-LGBTQ EXTREMISTS: Said Griffin: “For the LGBTQ community, the urgency of our fight against Kavanaugh’s nomination is not abstract. It is literally about millions of people having a right to live their lives free from discrimination and with access to affordable health care. For decades, anti-LGBTQ extremists have attempted to use our courts as an instrument of oppression against the LGBTQ community. Now, for the second time in two years, they have hand picked one of their own to sit on the nation’s highest court.” More from OutTake Media.

ICYMI – HRC TO HONOR ACADEMY AWARD WINNER ANNE HATHAWAY AT HRC NATIONAL DINNER: “Through her incredible talent and bold activism, Anne Hathaway uses her global platform to stand up for the LGBTQ community,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “From speaking out against discriminatory legislation targeting the LGBTQ community to her leadership on workplace equality for women, Anne is making a real difference in the lives of countless people around the globe.” Hathaway will join Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Stacey Abrams, Danica Roem, Nelson Araujo and thousands more at the weekend of events raising crucial funds in the fight for LGBTQ equality. Share your pronouns on your OkCupid profile

Share your pronouns on your OkCupid profile

Match over what matters to you

Now your OkCupid profile has a dedicated space where you can share your pronouns with potential matches.

OkCupid is proud to be the first and only leading dating app to create a dedicated space on profiles for LGBTQ daters to share their pronouns. Pronouns now appear right along with the other critical attributes that make you who you are, including your gender and sexual orientation. At OkCupid our goal is to empower daters to match on what matters to them and a dedicated space for your pronouns is an important way to share your authentic self and form meaningful relationships with deep human connections.

At OkCupid, we aim to provide a fun, affirming experience for all members. To ensure this new feature accurately represents and empowers members wanting to share their pronouns, we collaborated with GLAAD, a leader itself in the promotion of LGBTQ acceptance.

“Everyone should be able to express who they are, in their own words, and to have the opportunity to find romance with someone who respects and appreciates them,” said GLAAD Vice President of Programs Zeke Stokes. “By creating a dedicated space for personal pronouns on profiles, OkCupid has taken an important step forward that raises the bar for LGBTQ-inclusion on dating apps.”

If you want to share your pronouns on your OkCupid profile, here’s how:

Now you can add your pronouns to your profile.
  • This feature is available to non-binary people and other members of the LGBTQ community. Make sure you’ve selected your gender(s). You can do this by going to your profile and clicking on profile details (where you also enter your sexual orientation, relationship status, etc).
  • Once you’ve done this, you can update your pronouns on your profile (by the ?) by either selecting a dropdown option (he/him, she/her, they/them) or typing in whatever pronouns you want — you can also remove pronouns here by selecting (leave this blank).
  • If you’ve entered your pronouns, they will show up in your details section for all other members who see your profile.

Match over what matters to you on OkCupid right now.

Share your pronouns on your OkCupid profile was originally published in The OkCupid Blog on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Transgender Contestant Defends Robbie Williams After X-Factor Host Gets Slammed for ‘Deadnaming’ Him: WATCH

Transgender Contestant Defends Robbie Williams After X-Factor Host Gets Slammed for ‘Deadnaming’ Him: WATCH

X-Factor UK judge and pop star Robbie Williams was slammed on social media after asking Felix Shepherd, a transgender contestant, his birth name before his audition this week. Asking a transgender person their birth, or “dead name”, is considered offensive because it is seen as invalidating their gender identity.

Hey @robbiewilliams I must say I felt it was offending from you to ask Felix’s deadname… I’m sure there was no bad intentions Behind the question but Felix’s name is Felix. He changed it because the other one didn’t fit and I don’t think it was relevant to bring it up? #Xfactor

— céline (@quidditchfranta) September 8, 2018

Can’t believe @robbiewilliams just asked Felix Shepard his Deadname so Ignorant #XFactorUK

— Rae Smyth (@RaeOfSunshine58) September 8, 2018

@robbiewilliams made an honest mistake. It’s not his fault that he wasn’t educated on trans issues ect, it’s important to educate people! Education is important! Let’s learn from this and stop using #deadname

— Katrina Marie Scanlan (@Katrina_Scanlan) September 9, 2018

@robbiewilliams a trans person’s name is what they tell you. Asking them for their deadname is in no way appropriate, especially not on national TV. Don’t be a dick next time maybe

— Apollo (@apollinares) September 9, 2018

But Shepherd, who earned a standing ovation from the audience, defended Williams in later remarks: “I was in no way offended by Robbie’s question and he did ask me if it was okay beforehand but they didn’t show that on the episode. He was extremely sensitive about it and said ‘do you mind me asking?’ It’s a shame viewers didn’t get to see that. After my audition he even came backstage and shook my hand and said another well done. He was very much on a level with me. It’s just not a common every day thing to hear about on Saturday night TV and it’s not something people have pocket knowledge about; it isn’t always in daylight for people to see. I don’t take it personally; I just know people don’t have a great understanding of it.””

KAVANAUGH COULD DESTROY BALANCE OF THE SUPREME COURT FOR DECADES: In an oped for The Hill, HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow writes: “The Supreme Court could soon take cases that would determine critical issues for the LGBTQ community including whether our nation’s nondiscrimination laws include protections for LGBTQ people; whether individuals, organizations, and businesses have a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people; and whether qualified transgender people can be excluded from serving in the military, simply because of who they are… If confirmed, [Kavanaugh] could be a part of the majority that votes to dismantle all of the progress we’ve made. It’s time for our senators to answer: Do the rights of your LGBTQ constituents matter to you?” More from The Hill.

  • Judy Shepard, mother of Matthew Shepard, and Louvon Harris, sister of James Byrd took over HRC’s Twitter to discuss how Kavanaugh’s nomination potentially threatens hate crimes protections nationwide. More here.
