Corbin Fisher and GayHoopla Performer Kyle Dean Has Died at 21

Kyle Dean (aka Brandon Chrisan), an adult performer for studios GayHoopla and Corbin Fisher, has died at 21. The cause of death has not been shared.

Chrisan had been arrested multiple times over the last three years and released from jail in 2017 according to industry websites. He had deleted accounts on social media and fake ones had sprung up online created by “friends” interested in making a buck off his name. One recent fake account tweeted shortly after Chrisan’s death with a link to a GoFundMe page which has since been deleted.

According to SFGN, “Some online commentators have described Dean as a “gay-for-pay” performer, noting his frequent pleas for financial assistance for everything from Uber rides to Amazon wishlist gifts. His rap sheet in Florida includes possession of Xanax and marijuana and burglarizing cars.”

An entry on the Toale Brothers funeral home page noted that Chrisan “loved to play football and physically train his body, played football for the East Manatee
Bulldogs Pop Warner team and the Braden River Freshman football team and won fourth placed in an Adult Physique Competition at the age of seventeen.”

Romanian Advocates Declare Victory as Voters Reject Effort to Restrict Equality

Romanian advocates celebrated today as an anti-equality referendum measure supported by the government and the influential Orthodox Church failed. The measure had sought to amend the constitution to change the existing language on marriage as being between two spouses and replace it with a restrictive definition of marriage being between a man and a woman. 

The unnecessary, anti-equality referendum was held over two days on October 6 and 7 and cost Romanian taxpayers 20 million dollars. Advocates campaigned against the referendum by calling for a voter boycott because a minimum 30 percent turnout and a majority vote was required to validate the results. Only 20 percent of voters turned out. Advocates also criticized the government for allowing a vote on the rights of a vulnerable minority group. 

“This nationwide debate over marriage equality has changed hearts and minds in a land that is proud of its Christian traditions. Our campaign brought the LGBTQ community together and made it stronger. With the help of allies across Romania, we’ve spread a strong message of equality and solidarity,” said HRC Global Innovator Mihnea Florea of Romania. “I am proud to see fellow Romanians accepting people of different identities, choosing love over hate and showing to the world that Christianity is first and foremost about love and respect.”

“HRC congratulates Romanian advocates for their hard work and success in defeating a vile attempt to enshrine anti-equality provisions in their country’s constitution,” said HRC Global Director Ty Cobb. “We stand in solidarity with Romanian advocates as they work to achieve equality.” 

The Southern Poverty Law Center recently reported that American anti-LGBTQ groups such as Alliance Defending Freedom and the World Congress of Families and notorious anti-equality individuals such as Kim Davis, Austin Ruse and Sharon Slater had supported the referendum.

In a separate recent development, the Romanian Constitutional Court ruled in September that same-sex couples should have equal right to form a family and they should eventually have their rights recognized.

This Gay Couple’s Audition for ‘The Voice’ Brought Kelly Clarkson to Tears – and You’ll Fall in Love Too: WATCH

Adam and Jerome, a singing duo called OneUp, first wowed judges Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Blake Shelton on The Voice with their performance of the Spinners’ “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love”, and then shocked them by revealing that they’re a real life couple who fell in love after forming their duo.

Adam and Jerome then brought their families, and a flood of emotion, out.

Said Clarkson: “In a time in this country when it is so divisive, this is such a beautiful thing. It is proof that in this country, love is limitless. It’s the most beautiful thing that has happened to me this season.”

Jennifer Hudson couldn’t help but run to the stage and embrace them and their parents: “I want to be in the family!”

The show airs on Monday.

Dive into San Francisco’s Gay Hook-Up Culture with the First Episode of ‘Jaded’ — WEB SERIES

Back in August we previewed Jaded, a new web series created by and starring JD Scalzo and directed by Brian Emerick that explores the ins and outs of gay dating. The series also features Jordan Laurence Digby, Alan Littlehales, Earl Paus, Tom McVey, Donald Currie, Adena Walker, Mike Dinneen, Brooke Partain, Albert Rubio, and Bob the Drag Queen.

Jaded‘s first episode has now arrived and you can check it out below.

Jaded‘s five episodes were shot in six days with $9,000 according to the producers — and apparent influence from the short-lived HBO series Looking.

Here’s the series synopsis: “jaded takes a look into the contemporary gay dating world particular to San Francisco, through the eyes of a man lost inside the hookup culture, while on a relentless pursuit for a way out. He asks all the questions, he tries all the things, he falls in love in all the wrong places. Exploring a variety of complicated relationships, through a multi-diverse array of friends and lovers, we watch him play both the victim and the culprit, traversing a world full of contradictions, over-the-top self expression, casual drug use, and the age-old idea of ‘free love’ with all the consequences that follow. In a place seemingly without any rules, how do you know which game to play when you don’t really want to play one to begin with?”

Episode 1 focuses on Jackson as navigates his friendships, a night out in The Castro, and the complicated relationship he can’t quite let go of.

HRC Mourns Ciara Minaj Carter Frazier, 2nd Black Trans Woman Killed in Chicago in the Last 5 Weeks

HRC is shocked and horrified to learn of the death of Ciara Minaj Carter Frazier, a 31-year-old Black transgender woman, who was fatally stabbed Wednesday night in the West Side of Chicago.

As reported in the Sun Times, Chicago police declared Frazier’s death a homicide after appearing on the scene. According to officials, Frazier was killed and her body left behind an abandoned building by a man with whom she was arguing. As of Thursday evening, a search for the suspect was still ongoing.

Transgender advocate Monica Roberts has also received reports from “local trans advocates and people that knew Ciara” of undisclosed and disturbing details surrounding Frazier’s death, suggesting anti-trans bias may have played a role in her killing — including that her body may have been mutilated before she was discovered by authorities.

Friends and loved ones took to social media to remember Frazier. “My heart is broken so many memories so many good times” wrote one friend, while another expressed that Frazier will “always be missed.” According to LaSaia Wade, Executive Director of Brave Space Alliances, a transgender advocacy organization located in Chicago, Frazier was a also regular participant in the city’s Black LGBTQ ballroom scene. 

This news comes mere weeks after the death of Dejanay Stanton, another young, Black transgender woman, on August 30 in Chicago. Wade told the Sun Times that she feels the community is being “targeted” and is “frustrated and upset” with the official police response.

Frazier’s death is the sixth known killing of a trans woman of color in the last five weeks and the 22nd known killing of a transgender person in 2018.

Last fall, the HRC Foundation and the Trans People of Color Coalition released a comprehensive report detailing this tragic epidemic that made 2017 the deadliest year on record for transgender people.

If this disturbing trend continues, 2018 may soon see more reported lives lost than in the previous year.
