Michael Cohen: Trump Directed Me to Pay IT Company to Rig Online Election Polls in His Favor

Michael Cohen: Trump Directed Me to Pay IT Company to Rig Online Election Polls in His Favor

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen responded on Thursday morning to a Wall Street Journal report that he hired an IT company to rig early online election polls in favor of Donald Trump in 2015, and then failed to pay up.

Cohen hired John Gauger, owner of IT firm RedFinch Solutions LLC, for a $50,000 fee which was labeled “tech services” in bookkeeping records, according to the report.

The WSJ added that Cohen failed to pay the full monies owed: ‘In his Trump Organization office, Mr. Cohen surprised the man, John Gauger, by giving him a blue Walmart bag containing between $12,000 and $13,000 in cash and, randomly, a boxing glove that Mr. Cohen said had been worn by a Brazilian mixed-martial arts fighter, Mr. Gauger said. Mr. Cohen disputed that he handed over a bag of cash. “All monies paid to Mr. Gauger were by check,” he said, offering no further comment on his ties to the consultant. Mr. Gauger owns RedFinch Solutions LLC and is chief information officer at Liberty University in Virginia, where Jerry Falwell Jr., an evangelical leader and fervent Trump supporter, is president.’

Cohen tweeted about the report on Thursday morning: ‘As for the @WSJ article on poll rigging, what I did was at the direction of and for the sole benefit of @realDonaldTrump@POTUS. I truly regret my blind loyalty to a man who doesn’t deserve it.’

Sasha Jordon: Newbie

So tonight was my first night camming. Literally just went on in the clothes I was already wearing. Just right away. Things went fairly well for my first time, I think? My highest number of people was 50 which probably isn’t actually good in the grand scheme of things, but it’s a start. I got 2 tips. No private shows though. 1 review. I checked and I only made about $2 :/ really sucks but i’m gonna try not to let that discourage me. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I’ll be trying out some new things

Gays and Lesbians Twice As Likely To Have Substance Abuse Problems: STUDY

Gays and Lesbians Twice As Likely To Have Substance Abuse Problems: STUDY

Past studies have suggested that LGBT folks (especially our youth) are more likely to use alcohol, tobacco or other drugs, in relation to their “straight” peers, but not the extent to which it differed.

An abstract of the study conducted by the University of Michigan called the “Severity of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drug Use Disorders Among Sexual Minority Individuals and Their ‘Not Sure’ Counterparts” confirms that substance use disorders are more prevalent—and more severe—among sexual minorities in the United States, said lead researcher Carol Boyd, U-M professor of nursing.

“Our findings provide strong evidence that a higher proportion of sexual minority individuals, particularly bisexual individuals and those who are not sure of their sexual identities, have severe alcohol and tobacco use disorders, and those who are ‘not sure’ also have a higher proportion of severe drug use disorders,” said Boyd, who’s also the director of the Center for Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking and Health.

The study, in the latest issue of  The Journal of LGBT Health, is troubling at best especially as the people who identified as lesbian or gay were over twice as likely to have a severe alcohol or tobacco use disorder, when compared to heterosexuals.

The study didn’t examine the reasons behind the alcohol and drug use, and more research is necessary to understand what it means to be “not sure,” Boyd said.

A depressing piece of data and a surprising finding was “that people who reported having no sex during the past year were significantly less likely to have any substance use disorder,” Boyd said.

Again, due to the narrowness and specificity of the data, the researchers didn’t examine why.

Happy Birthday, Betty White!

Happy Birthday, Betty White!

The legendary actress turns 97 today.

The Daily Telegraph reports that White stepped out on the town yesterday, dressed to the nines, “The Golden Girls icon, still platinum blonde at 96, rounded off the ensemble with a pair of blue slacks and simple navy flats.”

White was born in 1922 in Oak Park, Illinois.

Her family moved to Southern California during the Great Depression. White attended Beverly Hills High School and soon embarked on a long and lauded acting career that included The Mary Tyler Moore Show followed by her very own The Betty White Show.

Ultimately she will likely forever be most associated as the dim-witted but warm hearted platinum blonde Rose Nylund from The Golden Girls.

Last year White told Parade magazine her secret to living happily and healthfully for more than nine decades: “Enjoy life,” she says. “Accentuate the positive, not the negative. It sounds so trite, but a lot of people will pick out something to complain about, rather than say, ‘Hey, that was great!’ It’s not hard to find great stuff if you look.”

She added that she also loves vodka and hot dogs, “probably in that order.”

Watch some of her funniest moments from The Golden Girls below.

NEW YORK MAKES HISTORY! LEGISLATURE PASSES GENDER EXPRESSION NON-DISCRIM ACT & BAN ON CONVERSION THERAPY: “Today’s historic action in New York is the result of years of hard work and it is a vivid illustration of the importance of electing pro-equality lawmakers,” said HRC President Chad Griffin (@ChadHGriffin). “Due to the efforts of countless advocates and leaders, transgender New Yorkers will now be explicitly protected from discrimination on the basis of gender identity and LGBTQ youth will be protected from the dangerous, debunked practice of so-called ‘conversion therapy.’ This is a monumental day for fairness and equality across the Empire State.” More from HRC, The Daily Beast and The Hill.

Today, the New York Legislature passed:

BREAKING — HHS CONSIDERING “LICENSE TO DISCRIMINATE”: The Department of Health and Human Services is considering granting a “license to discriminate” to child welfare agencies that receive federal funding, at the behest of officials in South Carolina and Texas. This comes in the wake of the passage of state laws that have passed in those states granting a broad “license to discriminate” as well as in Kansas, Oklahoma and other states. Several members of Congress have written a letter to HHS Sec. Azar opposing this, saying “There is simply no reason to deny otherwise qualified prospective parents the opportunity to care for children because they are Humanist, Jewish, Mormon, Catholic, or LGBTQ.” More from Bloomberg.

KAREN PENCE TO TEACH AT SCHOOL THAT BANS LGBTQ STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES: HuffPost’s Rebecca Klein (@rklein90) reports that Mike Pence’s spouse will begin teaching at a Virginia school that forbids the hiring of LGBTQ staff and faculty and threatens to refuse admission to or expel LGBTQ kids — sending a dangerous message to young people. “Why not teach at a school that welcomes everyone, instead of choosing one that won’t serve LGBTQ kids, kids of LGBTQ parents?” said HRC’s JoDee Winterhof. “The Pences never seem to miss an opportunity to show their public service only extends to some.” More from HuffPost.

HATE GROUP ALLIANCE DEFENDING FREEDOM IS REPRESENTING ANCHORAGE SHELTER THAT TURNED AWAY TRANS WOMAN IN NEED: The city prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.  “The right to believe is fundamental, but the right to discriminate — particularly with taxpayer dollars — is not,” said HRC Associate Legal Director Robin Maril.
